Hope everyone reading this is safe & sound and staying healthy. With some vital help from friends located all across the country (I'm in Los Angeles, they're in Orange County, Kansas City, Florida, and New Jersey) I continue to make progress towards this historical refight of the one of the largest and also the last major battle of the Second Afghan War. I finished building and painting both the Baba Wali and Marza (aka: Mircha Kotals (mountain passes), and have recruited more units. I learned about a problem with the terrain from the handful of play-test turns played with my son. I figured out how to solve the problem, and did so, which is a good feeling, If interested in reading and seeing more, please stop by to visit my blog, and if you do so THANKS for your time!

Meanwhile here's some pics of my recent efforts:

Well… spent a long long time putting up this post with a ton of pics from my blog. Got bit by the bug – duplicated into 2 posts (that was a first for me) and then the usual photos not posted as pics but turned into links to pics, so I went back in and manually revised the code and changed above pics from url links to IMG images… but then I discovered the split into 2 posts after the fact, and it turned out I'd been fixed the one that somehow had only 2 cross-posts, not the one that had 5. So now I spent the better part of an hour revising and fixing this post but it's available to less than half the users it was supposed to be available to, and it's time for me to go to real work.

Despite the happy enthusiasm being a member of this site has brought me for the best decade plus, the down side of the ongoing frustration brought about by predictable technical problems which my posting efforts have been plagued by for years now, and which I have diplomatically pointed out, is starting to tell.

Anyway, sorry to the 18th Century folks who I mistakenly cross-posted to -- that was my own human error -- and hope you 19th Century Discussion folks enjoy what's here. Onwards and upwards!

I sure hope you keep posting!

Maybe just some teasers of those great photos and a link to your outstanding blog would make less work for you and provide less temptation those tech gremlins.

I am exhausted, finger sore and eye strained just looking at all the work you have done. How excellent! H

Wow that terrain is absolutely stunning. I wish that I had a tenth of your talent.

And the figures make me want to buy some Second Afghan War figures.

Nice job as usual!!

Thanks you guys, I appreciate your positive feedback.

@Big Red: Actually what you describe is what I try to do -- since this particular blog post has about 100 photos, 19 pics reposted here are meant as "teasers," but maybe I'll take your comment to heart as a better way to deal with the current technical difficulties I'm experiencing here on TMP, and limit myself to no more than 2 or 3 pics per post. Since creating this thread a few days ago, I've noticed at least 3 other new threads that somehow got "doubled up". I guess it is a new mutation of "The Bug."

@Chimpy: If looking at my figures helps inspire you to raise your own Second Afghan War army, I'll be very happy indeed! It's a very interesting "small war" filled with a surprisingly wide variety of troop types and scenarios.

I managed to finish up the paint job on the connector pieces soon after putting this post on my blog and have now moved onto gluing pebbles and ballast to the first of the 3 bare blue terrain boards. After that I have to paint them with a base-coat of brown, heavy dry-brush of caramel, and highlight of sandstone. When that's done I will have completed the last big job needed for the terrain layout., though there will still be a few smaller things to finish. I can almost see the light at the end or the tunnel.

Here's just a few pics of the finished rocky ridge:
