Thanks for posting this Armand, I enjoyed it. No one is perfect. Wellington was a fine General, but had his flaws it would seem. Who doesn't? |

He had far less to say about his artillery. Seems he had a problem with the senior RA officer that was assigned. Check out "Wellington's Guns". There are many battles where the RA/RHA were instrumental in the victory, but Wellington made no reference to their significant action, or wrote of his disappointment of them. It also didn't help that the Ordinance Board, who was responsible for the Artillery branch, could not provide sufficient horses for that branch. This was the primary reason the British couldn't field that many guns. Things improved when the Portuguese Army was able to augment the numbers. |
