Another couple of vehicles from 2eDB in Paris (although the trees do suggest not quite August). This time an M5 Half track and an M8 HMC. The M5A1 is a conversion from the brilliant Academy kit of an M3A1. (Basically grind down the front mudguards, add some headlight guards, try to turn the rear corners into something less angular, new rear bumpers etc). Details I got from here; link Markings are of a command vehicle of La Nueve, 9th Company RMT (Regt de Marche du Tchad) and one of the very first into Paris. I am still tempted to add a crew and a Spanish Republican flag in time. The M8 HMC is a Hobbymaster ready made thing and not bad at all , but I did mean to redo the headlight guards. It is also from RMT but Grenoble is a fiction. No one does markings for the Scott in Leclerc's lot that I can find

Had mean to cross post these to the 20mm board, but old habits die hard and I sent them to the 28mm one! Just in case anyone missed them, more from 2eDB

The Spaniards with RMT! Oh indeed This one is Les Cossaques (curiously not a Spanish name though) from La Nueve and I do have the Braille Strike markings for four M5s (ie the same half track but without the 50 calibre gun ring) with varying Republican Spanish names. No one does Amiral Buiza alas. That was the one flying the old Republican flag in practice. |

I'd been looking forward for this! This is truly awesome indeed. Great paintjobs, and certainly your use of backgrounds, and photographic skills do create the atmosphere. Cheers! |

Very nice Mr.D. The backdrops work well enhancing the ‘feel'. Best wishes, Chris |

Love the holiday snaps. You got all the sights in; the Place de l'Étoile looks surprisingly quiet, can't stand around on it too often. Shame you didn't make the Tour Eiffel. Bet you still got stuck on the Périphérique! Really nice Deadhead. All best John |

Funny thing, this is at the other end of the Champs Elysee. This Arch is the mini version, outside what is now the Louvre, what was the Tuileries. The Petit Carousel. I have so many photos I could use, but no access to a decent printer, until the stores reopen. I only actually printed ones I could use for Napoleonic scenes. Suddenly pics of the Arc de Triomphe and old Eiffel's Tour, or even poor old Notre Dame, I could use for Paris 1944. If only I had access to a printer. I still have the M7 to show. The Ambulance is still in its box, but two really butch looking Rochambelles are ready to crew it. The M20 is my next job, having spent so much to find one. My two M4A2s. I have given up. They will never come from the Paris store. No reply to repeated requests for any info. Ordered two more today from Amazon. Hardly worth chasing via Paypal, put it down to experience after two months. Thanks all for the feedback. Hey Dodson, where did I learn my mini photo skills, but from your work? |

I did find that on the INternet and found it invaluable in telling which names were M5s and which M5A1s. A much photographed (and fascinating) unit and worth checking the pics, to get the individual details right eg Amiral Buiza had a winch instead of the roller. I must paint a Republican flag. |
