Captain's Log, Supplemental

We had completed our survey of NG5-003 and set course to Star Base 43 when sensors detected a pair of L-12's entering the system. Comms has been unable to establish contact, so we are not sure if the ships are Imperial or belong to one of the various Houses.

Captain Hersen has ordered the survey group to intercept and engage the interlopers.

*** Jackson's Bridge Voice Recorder ***

Comms: Captain, the survey group is ordered to course -30 by 0 relative. Tactical plan Alpha-Capa-B.

Captain: Helm, make it so. Comms, acknowledge the message.

Helm: Aye, Sir

Tactical: Sir, Bogie B is breaking away from us at +60 by 0. Bogie A is still heading 0 by 0 relative.

Sensors: Bogie A has just launched a Torpedo at us. Computers are calling it a Type-K.

Captain: Helm, take us to -25 by 0 relative. Lets see if you can dodge that monster.

Comms: Captain, the survey group has been cleared to engage.

Captain: Acknowledge the message. Tactical, fire the forward Pulse Cannons as we bear. Helm, prepare to shift course to 0 by +90 relative, maintain current speed once that torpedo misses us.

Helm: 0 by +90, maintain speed upon command. Aye, Aye Skipper.

Captain: Engineering, more power to forward shields.

Sensors: Torpedo missed, outside their disruptor range.

Tactical: Pulse cannons engaging, moderate damage to forward shields. 90 seconds before they can fire again.

Sensors: The Theron has also fired its forward Pulse Cannons, Bogie A's forward shields are down.

Captain: Helm, execute maneuver, lets see if we can loop back and take this interloper before his buddy joins the fight.

Captain: Tactical, fire the belly Pulse Cannons as they bear.

Sensors: Bogie A now on course -120 by 0 relative, maintaining speed. Bogie B appears to have fallen for the gambit and is now heading -150 by 0 relative. We are still out of its weapon range.

Tactical: Bogie A has rolled slightly, front shields no long visible, taking shots at their bottom shield.

Sensors: Bogie A is targeting the bottom shields of the Theron.

Tactical: Pulse Cannons just glitched out! Engineering, I thought that you fixed that software problem! Cannons resetting, 120 seconds until reboot.

Captain: Noted. Helm….

Sensors: Captain, the Theron just blew up!

Captain: What? They had full shields!

Engineering: Captain, Top shields just went down. 30 seconds until the energizers are back online.

Security: Bridge, internal sensors are detecting at least two boarding parties beaming onboard. Estimate is 2 ten-man squads.

Captain: Helm, punch the engine, get us away from that meat grinder.

Sensors: Both bogies are moving to intercept. We are outside disruptor range.

Security: Boarding parties are making their way to the Bridge! Damm it, Captain, we are MPs not Marines!

Sensors: Both bogies have launch Torpedos. 50 seconds to impact.

Captain: Helm bring us to +90 by 85 relative,Max thrust for 15 seconds, then +30 by 0 relative.

Helm: Aye, Aye Sir! +90 by 85 relative, max thrust, +30 by 0 relative.

Tactical: Bogies are in our blind-spot. All Pulse Cannons ready to fire.

Sensors: Both torpedos missed. Bogies increasing their speed.

Security: Boarder have linked up and are cutting their way through the security doors to the Bridge. We are about to make a push on them.

Captain: Hold them off as long as you can. Given that their ships are still shooting at us, they are likely not Imperials. If we can destroy their ride home, they should surrender.

Captain: Helm, bring us to 0 by -90 relative. Lets see if we can give Tactical a shot.

Sensors: Torpedo Lauch, both Bogies!

Captain: Those should be their last one! After these we will have the range on them!

Tactical: Firing on Bogie B with all 4 Pulse Cannons. 40% Hit. Dammit, Engineering, Pulse Cannon 3 glitched again! 90 seconds until next firing.

Sensors: Bogie's B front shields are down. Detecting moderate internal damage.

Captain: Helm, Bring us to -90 by 0 relative, max thrust and don't spare the ponies.

Captain: Engineering, All power to the engines! If we get out of range, we won't need the shields.

Captain: Security, what is the status on the borders? Security? Come in!

Sensors: Torpedos missed. Bogie A firing disruptors!

Tactical: Pulse Cannons still recharging! No Shot!

Sensors: Minor hits registered, no internal damage.

*** Explosions in the background ***

Captain: They are breaking through, launch the log drone and prepare to surrender.

*** End Recording ***

Mike Zebrowski took two Federation Capella-class frigates versus Paul Holden's pair of Klingon L12 escorts. Mike gave Paul the rundown on how they fly … and then mis-timed a bit of acceleration and ended up at range 7 and range 6 from Paul's Klingons … who then split fire on the two Capellas, destroying one, and dropping the bottom shield on the other one at range 6.

At which point, Paul (with Mike's coaxing) beamed two Marine squads over, which then promptly went around breaking things, working their way to the bridge. Mike's second ship got captured, and fun was had by all. Paul is getting better with Mode 1 movement, which he'd regarded with the justified suspicion of someone offered chocolate dipped broccoli as a treat, earlier. :)

(Mode 1 is Star Wars/Trek "Whoosh!" movement. Paul is a hard-core vector guy.)
