MIGIZI Set on Fire During Minneapolis Protests The nonprofit organization was founded in Minneapolis in 1977 with the goal of countering the misrepresentations and inaccuracies about Native people in the media. The organization had conducted research, including directing oral histories of community elders, the unique history and evolution of the Minneapolis Urban Indian community following the passage of the Federal Urban Indian Relocation Program in 1952. An archive of radio broadcasts and interviews with prominent Native Americans dating to 1977, which was being digitized, was rescued, and the oral history recordings are said to have been saved as well. Sad to hear, but that's the kind of collateral damage that happens when rioting gets started. Innocent people end up getting hurt, too. Hope they can rebuild.
