After finishing my ACW "Altar of Freedom" project with 2mm,
i starting a new smaller project, again with 2mm scale.

Borodino:
Those should be done with a customized game-mat later.

Game rules: i will use
"Morale Napoleon"
The difference to the known "Blücher" rules of S. Mustafa, which uses brigade bases as "operational unit",
"Morale Napoleon" use Infantry/Cavalry regiments as operational units, each consisting of 1-10 battailions/squadrons (bases) or an artillery battery (1 base).
So MN would be ideal, to use single unit stripes.

But to start i will do a smaller scenario with a 3D-gameboard again,
and this scenario will be

"Shevardino Redoubt"

Here the raw draft of the gameboard

and here the gameboard with base priming/colors is ready and can also already used to play on.
The forest ereas are already signified, but the detail painting, trees et cetera following later.

Test setup with a view from the corner of the villages of Fomkina and Valuteva with the first ready village bases.
If i have all still outstanding bases ready, i will final determine, which and how many bases i use for the single villages.

Here you can see 2 of the 3 needed french infantry divisions, so you can see, how large the planned scenario will look final.

Here a pic from the other side. You see the sappers are building just the first pontoon to cross the "Kolocha" river.

….in the sequel….

Your first map looks like it has some dead space at the bottom. Also would be nice for a bit more room to deploy the French, just so they aren't in knock-off-the-table range.

Mark, no worries.
The first pics are only "Storytelling" test pics.

The final setup of the french will be the part pending to the red line.

I can only determine the final setup, if both armies are ready.
And also then, the setup can change a few times, if test games makes this neccessary.

Look great Bayerkini!

The final moment when you set everything up is always a scary moment – you really pray that you did your math right and that the ground scale is correct!

A little work on in meanwhile.

Added the forests, or rather the forest borders a la Bruce Weigle.

Further defined the village areas and linked it with smaller streets/ways.
Then i added fields. This time not with parts of different game mats as i did with my Champion Hill board,
here now the simple way with paint.
Not as beautiful as with airbrush, but i don´t have such tool.

Then two example pics, how do the villages.
In foreground the fast way with single village group bases.
I will use this way for the time being.

If i will ever use this game board as DEMO game on a CON,
it can be, that i use the second way as you can see on right side next picture.
Then i would use single buildings direct on gameboard. Those would be surely decorated in similar way as the group bases too with
additional trees, hedges, fences e.g.
I used as example here my middle european town houses, until i get some day enough single "eastern" style buildings.

Before i do another "break" for painting, a last test setup with all current finished units, to see, if all works as planned and where i need still adjustments.

Overview

View from "Valuteva" to the pontoon crossing via Kolocha river at Fomkina village.

The 5th french Division advance over Doronino village.

From the russian side with the first painted russian units.

Next step will finished in about 4-5 weeks ;)

Additional to a "small" 3D gameboard, i let printed a game mat in correct scale.
You can see here the digital setup (so i can see, where place the units at start), including the units in correct scale.
As you can see, there should be enough room to move/maneuver the regiments/squadrons.

Here the army lists (using Morale Napoleon rules)

The printed empty mat, size 300x200cm

The complete russian army

Created a correct scaled Shevardino model for 3D printing

And how it looks on the mat

And another test pic, how it can looks later
