Hi Chaps

Is everyone experiencing slow deliveries from the UK to NZ?

I ordered figures and rules from 2 different companies on the 15 April and nothing has arrived yet. Do you think this is the new normal or should I be getting worried?

By contrast, I received the latest Wargames Soldiers and Strategy magazine on 28 May, posted 5 May.

I'm still waiting for a package that I ordered nearly five weeks ago even though the store has the order as completed.

Perhaps with the reduction in air travel the goods are coming surface mail.

At some point no post was going from the U.K. to New Zealand because there were no transport links, according to Royal Mail's international incidents update. The cessation of services to New Zealand happened abruptly and has no doubt caused a massive backlog of mail to that country. I suspect more recent post is moving smoothly, but that backlog of earlier mail is still being worked on.

I received a parcel this morning from Foundry, that I ordered in March. Still waiting for another from Steve Barber I ordered around the same time.
New normal for now I think.

I tried to order training swords from Black Fencer this morning only to get a "No delivery possible to your address." message so slow is the least of the problems.

Same to the USA.

It's a global thing right now.

Chimpy29 May 2020 9:52 p.m. PST

Thanks guys. That's somewhat reassuring.

But I don't think I will be ordering anything from overseas again for a while :-(

Everywhere it is slow.

Ordered a month ago from a store that usually delivers fast, I received the figures just today after a month.

I'm ok with that. It's not easy globally.

I don't think there is a problem of getting to you. It just takes a month. So if you buy in month, you will still have it… in a month plus time of delivery.

I decided to support the shops and still order, whether it takes a month or not.

I'm amazed there is enough air freight capacity left to ship anything at all.

I thought New Zealand had banned all international flights? That would make shipping a bit tricky.

I have had the following experience

Dispatched from the USA March 16th arrived at my home in Denmark May 7th,

Dispatched from the UK May 4th arrived May 28th,

Dispatched from the UK May 21 arrived May 25th.

So in the time of the pandemic anything goes.

If you don't order you won't ever get it!

There is a pandemic on.

What do you expect for crying out loud.

I've ordered stuff with the expectation supply chain disruptions will make it erratic.

My only thought in all this is how it is going affect the Paypal dispute process; perhaps that will start getting a real work out as deliveries back up?

I'm happy to wait, its beyond the control of a lot of people currently.

Some recent orders, all to Canada, and all – except for the last – moderately slow, compared to normal, and none unreasonable at all, given the dire circumstances:

Fr Spain
Sent April 24 and still waiting

Fr Italy
Sent April 25; arrived May 20 (25 days)

Fr UK
Sent April 27 and still waiting
Sent May 3; arrived May 27 (24 days)

Fr US
Sent May 12; arrived May 27 (15 days)
Sent May 7; arrived May 26 (19 days)
Sent May 22; arrived May 29 (7 days)

The last one requires a nod to Noble Knight Games!!

I ordered a bunch of stuff from the UK as various companies had sales. (I justified the impact to my bank balance as helping to support companies in hard times). I was getting very worried a week ago. Then all of a sudden 1/2 my parcels showed up on the same day – even though they had been posted over a 3 week period. Obviously the systems are not flowing as smoothly as they could. But patience will be rewarded.

TodCreasey30 May 2020 6:06 a.m. PST

Got my first 2 of 6 uk packages yesterday in Canada. That was from 6 weeks ago. I suspect slower mail due to the lack of planes flying and a backlog from while they were figuring things out. Letters have been fast.

Frederick Supporting Member of TMP30 May 2020 9:59 a.m. PST

It's variable – I sent two orders to the UK about two weeks apart and they arrived two days apart!

Chimpy30 May 2020 1:22 p.m. PST

Tabletopwargamer: I will still be ordering stuff – just from local suppliers who will get it here in 3-4 days. And the pandemic may be reason not to clutter up the airways with non- essentials.

Fighting 15s02 Jun 2020 9:22 a.m. PST

Today's international incidents update from Royal Mail link confirms that the mail system in a number of major countries is overloaded and that there are extreme delays. Today's update includes Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand and the USA – and it's not good news for any of them.
