Fist Full of TOWS 3 is really good. Blitzkrieg Commander looks good for WW2 stuff and there is also Cold War Commander, but I haven't read those rules. |

Command Decision-Test of Battle for Regiment/Brigade level. BattleFront for Company/Battalion level. |

Seven days to the River Rhine for moderns. Not sure about WWII. Just got FFT3. |
Extra Crispy | 29 May 2020 11:03 a.m. PST |
FFT3 covers 1920 to the present so you can jump from WW2 to Korea to Golan Heights to Fulda Gap and not have to learn new rules. |

Spearhead and Modern Spearhead cover WW2 and Modern respectively. You can review Spearhead, including numerous examples of games, in these links: link link link Modern Spearhead is covered in these links: link link link Robert |

There is us:- link You at most are a company commander. Its for the serious player who wants to have there units in real formations and wants to think like a real company commander. The rules are not overly complex but are quite diffrent and do need a D20, for some even that is too much. |

I think Spearhead is better for larger division level games with 1" = 100 yards, turns of 15-30 minutes platoon stands. FFOT3 is about the same and is a very complete and tested rule set. I think you'd identify more with Maneouver Group as it's at a more tactical level you operated in. It has interesting unit activation rules that allow for some interesting player tactics and for the initiative to swing logically. No matter what, check out Panzer War and AirLand Battle, they're free: panzer-war.com Check your email for the latest write-up and examples of Treadheads WWII 1:1 vehicle combat. The OODA Loop and Action Timing rules can easily be translated to post-WWII and create your own data card. "Playing the Loop" is easier and quicker than traditional activation and IGYG rules with better detail for 1:1 games delivering historic split-second results. It's free- for now. You'll like the interaction it creates between ATGM's and their targets. You can use whatever gunnery, armor and penetration rules you want. The same concept can be applied to Sci-Fi and your Hammers Slammers. Wolfhag |

I wanted to start a topic about the best ruleset for Modern games, I am glad I found this one. Any more examples? Also, I found out about the rules from Plastic Soldier Company called Northag (similar to Battlegroup) and I was wondering if any of you had a chance to test it? |

Battlefront WWII also covers modern thanks to a well-developed fan supplement hosted on then BFWWII website. |

Other rule sets that cover both WW2 and Modern that are in print. Blitzkrieg Commander and Cold War Commander – platoon elements Spearhead and Modern Spearhead – platoon elements Test of Battle and fan made modern – platoon elements Fistful of Tows 3, covers 1915-2015 – platoon elements Panzer Korps and OPFOR – company elements Lightning War – Red Storm – company elements Blitzkrieg Commander/Cold War Commander and Fistful of Tows can also be played at one model = one tank Fistful of Tows can also be played as company elements. There are many other rule sets at all different scales for an overview of them see the YouTube videos at this link YouTube link |

Thank you! @Achtung Minen – yes, I will try this ruleset for both WW2, which I want for some time, and for Modern, which I didn't know it covers @williamb – it really helps that you pointed at the rules that offer the possibility to play one model = one tank |

For WWII I like Mein Panzer for 1 to 1 vehicle scale and squad/team level infantry. For Modern era, I like Fistful of TOWs 3 which is on the scale of 1 vehicle or infantry stand equals a platoon or in some cases, a half company. Fistful of TOWs 3 can also be used for WWII gaming as well. |

@Valderian, in case you have trouble locating it, here are all the tables, extra rules and orders of battle for modern Battlefront. They won't make a ton of sense without the BFWWII rulebook in hand, of course, but for future reference: link |
