Hello Gents, I hope you're all well. I'm looking for a 28-32mm mini of a female mid-12th century knight. Preferably a helmet-less woman or a lightly built(?) man with a head easily hacked off for replacing. In a perfect world I'd like to get her mounted and dismounted, with a spare horse for the latter. I've recently learned the then 20-ish year old Ermengarde, Viscountess of Narbonne led a company of her knights at the siege of Tortosa through the summer and fall of 1148. link I'm going to make her more fighty than she probably actually was because I want to put her into a game of Lion & Dragon (Dragonne?) Rampant. I have another reason to find her too, for an equally fighty follow-on idea I'm pondering. Any suggestions Thanks. L |

Is this too much plate for what you're looking for? link

If she has a helmet with a nasal or a partial face covering, any knight would do. If you want to highlight her being a female, I suggest a head swap with another figure. Fantasy figures would not do for the most part as they are exaggerated--especially the female ones. |

Yeah, she's a nice fig but too platey. I lean to this one: link But she's got a similar issue. |

Possibly one of Annie's shield maidens (available on foot and mounted) with a shield swap and a sword to replace the axe link |

Brigette's not bad: link I'm tempted to go with Otherworld's Female Fighter: link Her armour's not right, but her nasal helmet, heater/clipped kite shield and long sword get me pretty close. And the chain is pulls it back a bit. |

Bad Suiddo's Svala on horseback *is* pretty good. I like her hauberk. Weapon (axe to lance) and shield swaps would be easy too. And her on foot standard bearer version can be made to match with a bit of work. Hmm. |

Bad Squido has a couple that are ladies in a dress, but carrying a sword. Armored versions are either plate or much earlier chainmail. link Which might be more appropriate? |

Hasslefree has this link But no mounted version |

Unfortunately none of the Monarchs work. But HF's Jeanne *is* pretty great! Again, too platey; and the sword's not right. But the chain is a nice pull-back era-wise. So far it's a toss up between Bad Squiddo's Svala, Otherworld's Female Fighter and Hasslefree's Jeanne. Decisions, decisions. |

I imagine Reaper should have some decent options too. |

Here is another hassle free figure that might work. link Matthew |

How about the knight (fig with sword and shield) in this figure pack from the North Star Frostgrave range? I have her and she looks quite 11th or 12th Century as her shield is a boss-less kite shield: link |

Use a male figure with a female head swap, or (if you're good with sculpting) possible simply mold long hair coming out from under the helmet. Most figures of armored women have prominent breasts (so you know they are female, duh!), but armor of all types has a tendency to compress breasts, so that even large breasts are reduced to merely large lumps, which can easily be confused with large pecs on a guy. Padding and bulk of armor also tend to remove "femaleness", like a slender waist. You might look at smaller ranges, to get a slighter figure. |

@45thdiv: Oh thanks! I'll add Gwen to my runners-up list. @bong67: You're the second to recommend that Frostgrave Knight. I like her. She goes on the Preferred list. Thanks! I may end up using a male body with a head swap after all. But I'll keep looking for a little while. |

I hear you. And that *is* a nice mounted and dismounted pack. But the helmet's not right, too early and too northern. Especially for a landed and monied noblewoman from the south of France. And I get that the film costumers did what they did, and the fig has to represent that. But it bugs me that she has that leather or plate getup over her mail. This exercise has demonstrated unequivocally that there is no fig on the market of a woman in mid-12th century equipment. Not one. Or any time from the 12th through the 13th really. You either decide to accept a degree of inaccuracy in arms and armour or, as I'm probably going to do, you do a head -- and possibly weapon and shield -- swap on a fig of a male knight or noble. I'm currently looking intently in 1st Corps' direction. I did ping Bad Squiddo to suggest she produce a fig of Ermengarde; maybe we'll get lucky. |

Speaking of Eowyn… link Depending on how desperate you are, you dig out a MB279-Vignette und use the Eowyn of that one for foot. |

Here is an image of Eowyn on foot in the vignette: link And then there is this lady from Thunderbolt Mountain
She came with a dismounted and mounted version, but you have to hunt her down on ebay since TM stopped their sales. |

And while we are here, a mounted Eowyn is currently up at eBay (with a better pic than the one above). auction |
