Figures are nice, painting is superb but lances/spears are "robust."

I agree, super painting.

Those tree trunk lances the gendarmes are holding are rather large. Perhaps they're made of balsa wood to better splinter in combat, and to be easier to carry with one hand (I do get you want them to be robust so they're not spindly spaghetti noodles).

Beautiful work in one of my favorite periods! Cheers!

My Great Italian Wars collection is all Blue Moon and I love them. Yes, the lances are thick but I don't mind at all because they are less likely to bend or even worse, break.

Happy you like them boys!. (smile)

All our Lance's, swords, etc are created with GAMING in mind. Old Glory has cast product for other companies where the Lance's, swords, bayonets, etc. will not even withstand being pulled from the mold and packaging without substantial breakage.

Personally, I don't like bendy or over-scale lances and pikes so I always replace them with wire. It also means you can mix and match figures from different manufacturers more easily.

For those others that don't like tree trunk lances, it is quite easy to make replacements from wire with Millliput to create the taper.
