"This post is something I've wanted to write for a while, but I was having trouble pulling my thoughts together. Part of the reason I started this blog in the first place, called it "Chickhammer," and chose my tagline is because I want to talk about what it's like being female in our male-dominated hobby. I need to start by talking to people already in the hobby about some small things they can do to make the environment friendlier for women.

I should explain just what I mean by a friendlier environment. Obviously, we're not a pack of wild dogs. But, you probably have noticed that the wargaming culture, and the "geek" culture in general, skews largely male. The interesting exception to this is the video games, where women are about 40% of the players. It's hardly remarkable now when a woman says she plays video games, whereas fifteen years ago it was "a big deal."…"

Good article. I treat all women I game with, with respect. I give them the same hard time I give my male counterparts. I don't cheat and try not to take advantage of them. I treat all women like they are my sister or daughter and expect my co-players to do the same!

I was at a 40K tournament watching a game. There was an attractive young woman playing against a younger fellow. I began to notice that he was making some very stupid moves. He looked focused and knew his army, but he would just lose it. What was happening was, she had a low cut top on, showing some serious cleavage. When it was her turn, she would bend over the table and move her forces. Her opponent just stared down her blouse, Rude behavior, but she knew it and took advantage of it! He'd just lose his focus after his turn and be thinking about her next turn and not his. Talk about a strategy, she took him to the cleaners. I watched the game and their interactions for the whole game. I did talk to her after the game. We laughed about her strategy. I believe she took the tournament. Good for her.

There was a young woman doing the same thing in my FNGS. But she took a few steps farther. She would wear a white skin tight "School Girl top, plaid mini skirt with handcuff belt, white thigh high stockings and black Mary Jane's.

And she had the body and looks to pull it off. She not only disrupted her opponents play, she disrupted everyone's play!

This link is eight years old. The site hasn't been updated since Jan 2017.

I can't imagine much sadder than dressing skimpy for 40k. Big eyeroll all around. At least go up to the local bar and charm some free drinks to make it worth the time!
