@Legionarius: Women in their 20s account for just over 5% of the Russian population, or about 7 million. (Total population is about 145 million.) link If 10% of them are knockout beauties, that's 700,000. Easy to recruit enough for a parade. Wikipedia says that there are 115,000 to 160,000 women in the Russian military: link There are probably more people in their 20s in the military than in the general population. Let's assume that there are twice as many women in that age range in the military than in the general population, or about 10%, so 11,500 to 16,000. I'm guessing that's a low figure, but I'm too lazy to look up Russian military demographics. If 10% of those 11,500 to 16,000 are knockout beauties, that's 1,115 to 1,600 women, still enough for the parade. |

4th Cuirassier This is the inscription "EMERCOM of Russia". This is a paramilitary rescue organization. The girls in the photo are most likely future rescue doctors. Women who take part in these parades are cadets of various military schools (there are special women's groups and faculties). These are mainly military doctors, lawyers, accountants, and supply specialists. There are not so many women mastering direct combat professions. There are no other special female military units in Russia. |

Fair play to the rest if they are Doctors or Medics in the making but God Alone Knows what the ones straight from a High School Marching Band are supposed to be doing!
