I had various options how to paint those, I was on the brink to paint half in the white uniform according to the regulations of 1792 and half in the red ones of 1791, but in the end decided to go for pure red. The miniatures again thanks to Sho Boki of Estonia – 18 mm who provides them, so we can do all those interesting early French Revolutionary War stuff. In the future some wild mixes will certainly be on the agenda as well. The paper colour is original a white Colonel one from Adolfo Ramos of Spain which I had to paint convert – into one for 1792 – first battalion.

@SHaT1984: remember the Irish Brigade, the four regiments of which traditionally had red uniforms too, until the early 1790s. So the choice of colour made for the 87e is best of all. By the way, the last commander of Dillon's Regiment (and his family name was Dillon) went to the guillotine in 1793 or 1794. |
