Games Workshop announced the 9th edition of Warhammer 40K this morning. The good news for fans is that all of the 8th edition army lists and unit stats are 100% compatible with 9th edition. The edition better integrates missions and terrain into the core of the rules, specifically gearing missions to the playstyles of particular armies (sneaky missions for sneaky armies). |

Complaining about GW is so tired. You didn't detect the trolling? |

The Chief is on it. The best way to get lower priced figs is by buying the box set. Marines and ? I am guessing. |

Highly doubt that GW will put Marines in the new set. They will almost certainly have Primaris plus some other faction – but no Marines. |

I wonder if this will be a full new ruleset or just minor tweaks to better link new missions. |

Those who just bought the marine supplements are gonna be happy happy! |

Guess they will seeing as they will still be valid. |

This seems like the 3rd to 4th change where it was more clarifying things and codifying errata and published changes. All current codexes and supplements are apparently legal. That said I figured we would get a new edition since we just got a Sisters of Battle codex and that is traditionally followed by a new edition invalidating our codex. |

Grainy pictures over at BoLs shows who bunch of new Primaris including bikers that are allegedly in the new set. I'm guessing this will be the edition where the old marines quietly slip away and a bit of retcon will see Primaris becoming the only marines in town. |

Guess they will seeing as they will still be valid For now |

Current codex books and psychic awakening rules are still valid. Space marines still around. Kill Team still around and getting some of the new 40K figures in the future. Points values to be changed for some things First FAQ issued PDF link Expectation is the new box will be Necrons vs Primaris and possibly Sisters The Necron picture has surfaced in the clear but no real details on the new troops link All in all it's a good balance – money spent recently still valid (remember the 'index' books), basic rules free, inclusive PDFs coming with new books. As normal though, if you want the new shiny figures as real (not counts as) then it's hand over the cash – that's not changed and it's been GW policy for many a release to tempt new gamers in and maintain cash flow. For me – a couple of books every two to three years is not to bad – it gets more expensive if you collect lots of troops but that's what Kill Team is for. |

Love the new Primaris SM bikes. New shiny toys. Definitely will get some. |

I do like the look of the new Primaris bikes (not really been a fan of the Primaris in general) but they could tempt me… until I see the prices most likely (including the "Down Under" tax!!) and then wake up from my horrible nightmare! |

Not for me right now as my interests are strictly limited to the Horus Heresy. Maybe I'll look into the Necrons at some future date. |

Is it me or have the Necrons suddenly done a bit Martian tripod? |
KeithRK | 25 May 2020 6:46 a.m. PST |
My problem with Space Marine Bikes has always been that they don't look like they could maneuver over rough terrain without bottoming out. |

well I am not bothered about the new edition rules in the slightest, but I am interested in doing true-scale marines and it really looks like this is gathering pace. Stumpy-marines are dead, long live the stumpy marine, you have served valiantly for over 30 years. MInd you I am not totally happy as they are also overloading the Primaris with over the top details now, I was quite happy with the relatively "clean" look. Oh well I suppose it was to be expected. |

I was really hoping one of these years GW wold do a 10 man plastic box of Beakies Marines in tribute to the originals. I figured they'd sell well as they work for both 30k and 40k. Primaris pretty much killed that idea. I'm hoping Forgeworld still does some more Mk6 kit for the Alpha Marines, Imperial Fists and Ravenguard. Fingers crossed. |
