Great detail here.

The straps on the helmet, the ties on the backpack, the folds in the grenade pouches…..not to mention the Oriental facial features.

His Chinese Type 56 even has the characteristic folding bayonet. Often wondered how that compared with the Soviet made AK47. Bet there is many an expert can tell us and it would be interesting!

Beautiful, Thomas!
No help, Liam, on the AK47. Those things came from just about any Warsaw Pact country as well as China. There were several different versions, some of those even has the spike bayonet like some of the SKS.

Again, Thomas, your work gets better and better with every figure. I wish I could have painted half that good back when I was younger and did not have failing eyes. Now, I see work like yours and Liam's and just shake my head.

best always

Sam

Heck I am struggling with my eyes now and use much magnification and illumination. Back in the day, most of my professional work was done down a binocular microscope….very forgiving. The trick was to leave the junior to close up….or work with arms fully stretched out!

The things you learn. Like so much I "simply knew" I was wrong in assuming a folded spike bayonet meant a Chinese copy! Thanks.

This figure is particularly good I think, both modelling and painting. the slight turn of the head just brings him to life.

I "acquired" a massive lens with a ring fluorescent bulb, all on an articulated arm, once used for repairing the innards of hearing aids……many years ago. It was sitting in the corridor in Audiology, unloved and ignored. Seemed a shame….
