The infantry of the legion had 3 battlions, one of Arquebusiers and two of Chasseurs. A colour was lost in the Vendée, alas I could not find any information – so I invented the design of this one. In contrast to the Arquebussiers – a different green for the coat was prescribed.

Inspirational! I like Boki figures, but dowish their bayonets match those of AB Napoleonics. |

Bonjour et bravo. Nice painting, uncommon figures and unit but grammaticaly wrong. The"legion des germains" never existed but instead you had a "legion germanique", the diffrence is the same as "legion"of germans" and "germanic legion".The flag has the correct german spelling for late 18th century with "teutsch" replacing "deutsch'. painting on a 15mm flag "légion germanique" would have a been a true challenge. Everything briefly explained here: link |

I've seen pictures of bare metal and not been too impressed, but they paint up beautifully. An expert paint job as usual, but the character of these minis comes out really clearly Thanks for posting John |

About the name, the legion had a lot of different ones, yes Légion Germanique as well, but also Légion des Germains, I should have used that then instead of Légion Germains – but there is also Les Fédères Germains. There is this nice book by Chuquet – La Légion germanique 1792 – 1793, Paris 1904. The challenge just to paint Légion Germains was alread tough enough but Légion des Germains should have been possible. Thanks for all the comments and here a link of a very good article about la Légion des Germains link |

great looking unit, the figures are good but your painting make them shine. |
