As per the title really. following on from my Parliamentarian and Royalist coat colour charts – here's the Scots. link Naturally I dodge the bullet of 'highland dress' but I do look at what Hodden Grey was/is |

Great stuff again KYPD, iirc one of the 1639 units sported red trousers, or trews I guess. Will see if I can track it down |

Sir Mungo Campbell of Lawers was the red trewed unit, in 1639 anyway according to Furgol, when they were likely in 'Highland dress' of one sort or another. If the lists of hodden grey coated units are from the wiki, take them with a smidgen of salt, as I assumed every unit in the main field armies was hodden grey. |

Hi Timbo, I got the info from Furgol. Must confess my eyes glazed over at times too – not particularly riveting reading in the most part. So I guess mine should be taken with a pinch of salt also Thanks for the red trees info, missed that bit. Will go back in for another look |

Got timed out before I continue typing…. trees? Trews! I have tried to cross reference my findings with the wiki and it seems fairly consistent, I must confess I don't find Scots coat issues particularly exciting. Apologies to all Scots aficionados, but I just don't. They were phenomenally important in the Wars, but they just don't float my boat I'm afraid, Which could explain why my Parliamentarian and Royalist armies are massive, and my Covenanter army is 1/3rd the size. And my Montrose army is only at the planning stage |

Thank you for all your excellent work and for taking the time to make it available to others. I am slowly building up both sides in 15mm (will avoid the Scots) and your Blog has been both inspirational and most helpful. Cheers Kent |

Thanks Kent. You are very welcome. To be honest writing the blog is helping keep me sane right now, and judging by the increase in 'hits' it's appears to be helping fill a few minutes for quite a lot of people at the moment. If it helps anyone keep sane during lockdown, or inspires/helps someone with their project, well that's a double win! |
