Okay, first piece done. It needs more dry brushing with dirt but I like the colors. Sandbags could also be hessian/brown but I think the OD is more iconic and will make for a more visually appealing table.

Good looking piece, Mark.
A little dry brushed "dirt" and you are on the money. Don't hesitate to vary the sandbags. You could use the tan ones on one bunker and the OD ones on others. You never said who the manufacturer was. Would love to know. Looking forward to more.
thanks for sharing.

Nice work. Definitely dirty it up some!

I have seen color photos of bunkers with mixed colors, green and very pale tan, close to white. But those were bunkers with hundreds of bags, not just a row or two around a foxhole.

The color of the soil in Vietnam varied from area to area. A lot of places had soil that was mostly laterite, an iron ore that turned clothing (especially boots) red and, when tamped down for construction, e.g. support for PSP airstrips, was extremely hard. The color was a dull flat medium red.

Thank you Mark! For my 20mms I have been using a mix of 10 and 15mm Timecast. Will check them out. Again, thanks.

For Brass1, what paint color would you use for that red clay. I have the georgia clay craft paint, but was thinking about using iron oxide. Any Suggestions for a paint that could be used straight out of the bottle. Thanks in advance.

@Bismarck:

I use craft "Terra Cotta" It goes on really orange but as it dries it fades to a nice reddish brown.

Here is a bunker:
