My answer NO

What's the difference between Not my cup of tea and Not my genre?

USAFpilot11 May 2020 10:15 a.m. PST

There is no difference.

Depending on how you write a poll, you can manipulate the question and answers in a variety of ways until you get the outcome you want. Haven't you ever heard the expression "figures lie and liars figure".

Seriously though, the following poll responses should be lumped into one category: no opinion, not my cup of tea, not my genre, I don't know, not my whackadidle etc.

What's the difference between Not my cup of tea and Not my genre?

Those options were added to most polls as the result of – you guessed it! – a poll. Readers voted for it.

"Not my genre" means you're not into the historical period or gaming universe that is being asked about. So if it's a WWII poll and you don't game WWII, "not my genre" is a good answer.

"not my cup of tea" means you aren't interested in the subject of the poll, even though it may be in your genre. For example, if the question is about skirmish gaming in WWII, and you do WWII but not skirmish-level gaming, then "not my cup of tea" would be a correct response.

Actually, none of these/no opinion should be two different things. none of these could easily mean I have an opinion.
