Couple questions regarding the Victrix Gaul's. 1: Generally speaking, how is the quality of the figures? 2. I've read that in other lines the Victrix horses can be quite large, is that true of this line or are they a reasonable size? 3: How do they scale versus other figures, i.e. Warlord, Foundry, Old Glory, etc. Thanks much for any information. 1. I like them, they paint up nicely and are simple to assemble. 2. Yes the horses are very large /fat 3. they are much bigger than Foundry, old Glory and Warlord. But fit black tree, crusader and elite. I have painted quite a few, with a lot more to do link

The quality is very good but the heads are quite large. I don't like the hair on them as they have a mould seam that creates a ridge that runs ear to ear but the helmets are good. They scale well with Warlord Games plastic infantry except for the heads but you can use your extra Victrix heads on the Warlord bodies. Warlord Games cavalry are tiny compared to Victrix but the chariots are the same size and because the Victrix chariot horses are smaller they match quite well with Warlord's chariot horses though are wider. Crusader work fairly well with them too as do Aventine. Their horses are large, not as large as Renegade but still large. From the side they match well with Crusader but are much wider. The earlier Foundry match well with Relic, cavalry and infantry but not with Victrix. Don't know anything about Old Glory, their website doesn't even have decent pictures on it and I've never seen a size comparison with their Celts/Gauls. |

Victrix and Warlord are larger. Newline Designs, Foundry, Old Glory, and Relic figures tend to run well together as some can be seen here: link I mix in some plastic ones because the peoples are different sizes in reality so some bigger brutes make the warband look more irregular. The Warlord figures are much more animated than the rest so that makes them stick out and take up more space. However some of their poses are kind of crouching so they don't tower above Old Glory. |
