Does anyone have any information about the uniform of this unit at the above battle?
I just need enough to paint to basic wargame standard or choose suitable proxy figures.
Thanks in anticipation!

I would guess they'd be in the American "old Northwest" frontier dress of fringed hunting shirts in various colours (tan, drab, brown, black, grey) similar to the better known Kentucky volunteers.

I thinks it's really cool that it appears you are planning on recreating this battle. My wife and I spend the Memorial Day weekend in the Straits area every year and this year we had a big family trip planned. I was so looking forward to touring the area with my Grandchildren and boring the Hell out of them with my knowledge of it's history.

But, with COVID and Michigan locked down till the cows come home, we put everything off till next year.

And if you are asking yourself, "Why wait till next year?" we go over Memorial Day because there is a huge re-enactment at Fort Michilimackinac with hundreds of re-enactors doing their thing…. I think the Grand kids would enjoy it….

In Greg Urwin's United States Infantry book, there is a plate of Fort Meigs and shows one of the Ohio militia. Low crowned round hat, and a loose fitting shirt, but not fringed from what I remember. Trying to find the image.

I checked Chartrand's "A Most War like Appearance": American Uniforms War of 1812, p 112-113; and it details the uniforms and equipment worn. The state regulations stipulated that each company had to dress uniformly but that could be a variety of uniform/clothing types.

Generally, the print above represents the various type of uniform worn. However, if you do not have Chartand's book and want more detail I can transcribe some salient details and post them here.

I recommend "The British Army at Mackinac 1812-1815 by the Mackinac State Historic parks. It contains much detail about the British and Canadian uniforms in addition to several maps, lay outs of forts, gun positions/types and some orders of battles. A lot of useful detail crammed into a 60 page booklet.

Gentlemen, thank you very much for your kindness in replying to my question so quickly!

And thanks especially to you, PzGeneral, for the link to that very useful site, which I've bookmarked for future use.

I bought a copy of Brian Leigh Dunnigan's British Army at Mackinac on a holiday to Canada about twenty five years ago! I got it out again recently and discovered an interesting, but small scenario suitable for use with Bob Cordery's Portable Napoleonic Wargame rules and hope to write it up for publication while 'confined to barracks' by Covid.

Thanks again!

Neat place and a very interesting engagement. I was there in 2014 to help with the 200th anniversary event as a redcoat.
