Over the past 9 months I had resolved to reduce my pile of games/minis to only those that I will actively play. I've made some hard calls on stuff I've been hording for some time now but finally gave up. I unloaded a ton of stuff (though you'd never know it looking at my shelves). I've been proud of my efforts as I just let go stuff I always wanted to play, but after ten or more years of carting around from place to place (I've moved a bit in the last 20 years) I finally said enough is enough and gave up on some items I know deep in my heart I will never break out and play. So far so good, right?

I'm still working, albeit from home, but that has allowed me to catch up on painting for the first time in a long time. If I'm in a long boring meeting, I can paint. I've been happily painting up my Russo-Japanese fleet (I'm about half way through) but I like to mix it up so I don't get bored just doing the same thing over and over, so I've been 3D printing up 28mm tanks and painting those up for Bolt Action and What A Tanker. I also have a bunch of 1/600 aircraft I've been painting up.

But of course I got into Oak & Iron and have some ships I want to paint up now (though that shouldn't take too long). However, I've been watching a lot of movies/shows set around 1000AD and now I've ordered a whole 28mm Norman army. If that isn't enough, I recalled I had a whole box of Vikings so I dug those out to paint while I wait for the Normans.

The further I get, the more my focus is all over the place.

Are you as bad as me?

Oh, and I need a recommendation for 28mm artillery crew for my German Grille self propelled artillery.

No, but I used to be. The overall effect finally shocked me out of it, and it may happen to you. Good luck, and try really hard to reach "playable army" stage before your attention wanders.

I'm with Robert. I did a huge purge 10 years ago and never looked back. I do have stuff I need to get back on the table, but I'm happy with what I have. So at this time all my periods are playable and more, so now it's about adding units for fun, and making terrain.

You keep using that word, focus, I don't think it means what you think it means!

I don't much to add to the comments of Robert Piepenbrink, Extra Crispy, and pzivh43 but encouragement.

I am down to a couple of paper games and several pdfs that I have never played, and I believe that all of my painted miniatures in various scales and from various settings have seen action at least once. There is a good amount of unpainted stuff, though, and someday I may resume my eBay sales or sell them here.

I just chucked focus out the window this quarter and have been cycling through various periods on my painting table. Granted it's a planned rotation and not random but it has reinvigorated my painting lately. I'm still slow but have more fun at it.

Oh, believe me, I have no focus. I didn't even mention the 1/100 mechs that I have to paint, the 1/285 Robotech stuff and the bits and bods of other things in the queue. At least the stuff I now have will make its way to the playing table.

I've wanted to do Samurai forever but have decided that won't happen so I will likely sell off the figures and terrain I have. I also have a case of 1/35 Machinen Krieger with a walker that I will likely sell off since I'm not likely to get around to that. At least I'm planning to play with what is in the mega queue and will ditch the stuff that won't likely get played- it's a start.

Focus Stifler, Focus!

I bounce around depending on mood. I have various primed models on my table so I cant paint whatever strikes my fancy. I traded away a largish unpainted 40k army last year for a largish WFB army. Unpainted. And it is still unpainted. That was the 1st time I've traded/sold models in a long time. I still have plans for everything I have, so I'm not at the hard look and my piles of lead. Yet.
