Would you play a large scale miniature based wargame set in the Dune universe?

Define large scale? Size of vehicles (ships?) or by the numbers.

In SciFi I have 6mm and 25mm but only in 6mm can I have a "large" scale game (100s to 1000+ vehicles). Though I do have the buildings for 6mm game (100+ actually). Started picking up the 6mm SciFi about the time of BattleMech and sort of went a little crazy. Am now selling my Mechs (still have over 500) but keeping the vehicles.

Sorry, perhaps should of said "mass combat" meaning large battles, not large minis.

Ie, not a skirmish or Tactical squad-based game.

Maybe

Probably not.

Much like the novels, I would prefer a multiple scale campaign. For Dune, some ship battles, a few large scale, and a larger number of skirmish actions. Maybe a customized game of Diplomacy thrown in! :)

Not miniatures but a board or computer game. Most importantly, from the books and not TV or Movie treatments.

Are we talking interplanetary war here? Fleet battles? Or just battle on Arakis itself?

What popped into my head first was people asking why the Shop Vac is on the table, and I say "That's the proxie for my SANDWORM.

Crispy, I would think land battles that go beyond Arakis.

I can see battles between houses to control a system. Or raids for political/financial gain. Or some of the smaller houses trying to gain status. Maybe keep a campaign score, if it gets too high, then the emperor takes notice and sends in the Sardaukar to really mess with you. Yeah, I would play that.

Earl of the North06 May 2020 4:56 a.m. PST

Yeah, most of the video games have been set in conflicts between the Noble houses, which are at least usually control one planet. Lots of scope for pre-Dune wars between the houses, the Jihad the Fremen launch when Paul becomes Emperor is large in scale, the later wars after the God-emperors death. I'd be interest in mass combat in the Dune verse.

Rebel minis makes a fair few models that pretty well echo the miniseries combatants in 15mm. Their Titan Marines are decent Saudaukar. Their Sahadeen are passable Fremen.

FWIW

Fantasy TRIUMP! would work great for DUNE battles.

Given the way shields have influenced warfare I suggest Wargames Research Group Ancients seventh edition.
