From last month link Abraham Lincoln and based on your last battle – He is going to appoint you the commander of a new Union Army to win the war – He is also going to allow you to choose any 3 Corps Commanders and a Cavalry Commander from anywhere in the Union forces – who do you select? Note – look their performance at Corps Command Do you go bold with a Grant, Sherman, Hooker, and Sheridan force or more with a more cautious but highly competent Thomas, Hancock and Curtis and Buford option? Or do you take a Custer, Sedgwick, Sumner or someone else? |

For my corps command I would have to go with Reynolds, Hooker, and AJ Smith. Grant never served as a corps commander…well, maybe you could call his force at Henry/Donelson a corps (three divisions), but it was not officially designated as such. Cavalry – Buford. Best cavalry commander of the war, as opposed to those who were great raiders. |

For me it would be George "Pap" Thomas (probably the best overall commander on the Union side bar none!), Hancock the Superb, and John Reynolds. For my cavalry commander I would choose James Wilson. Other infantry corps choices would be Phil Sheridan and John Logan. For my army artillery commander, I would choose Henry J. Hunt. Jim |

I am going to play this differently. It is 1864 and I am Grant putting together my dream Army of the Potomac. I can pick from any Union commanders alive or dead regardless of their rank at the time, and can make assignments without regard to their impact on other fronts: Army of the Potomac-Sherman A Corps-Hancock B Corps-Thomas C Corps-Porter D Corps-Hooker Cavalry-Sheridan Artillery-Hunt |

Sherman, Thomas and McPherson, because they would work well together as a team. And Sheridan for the cavalry. |

Sherman – I want the south to burn. Thomas – one of the best generals of the war. Which really means I need McPherson or Hancock. Cavalry I'll take Buford. Artillery Hunt. |
