As is the norm on a Wednesday during these troubled times, a briefly mentioned unit gets it's fifteen minutes of fame. Today it is the turn of William Fiennes, Lord Saye and Sele and his Regiment of Foot link

I always enjoy these posts and the mini regimental histories.

This one has made me realise that I need to do an alternative command stand for mine, so they can also have the later colours available.

Hi Timbo, thanks. That way madness lies! I'm sure you are aware of how often regiments 'changed'; you could be setting yourself a Herculanean task

Oh I've been at it on and off for 40 years (more off than on to be honest) so I have enough but I still enjoy doing a few more every now and then. I place a pair of ensigns with their flags plus an officer on a round command base. I can swap unit IDs by swapping out this base for an alternative.

For my Royalist forces I often have two or three command bases per unit so it looks as if it's been made up from several small regiments.

There are still plenty more to choose from. For example, I've never done Lord Brooke's and I really ought to. I've not done it as it's a unique and iconic unit that had a short lifespan.

I've recently painted up a load of slightly older flags that just pre-date the first civil war which I'm going to use for some unknown local forces/trained bands.

Sounds good, and apologies – just noticed that autocorrect has changed Timmo to Timbo. Oopsies. Sorry!

Nice work. The blog mini-history was a good read.

Nice blending in of montereo's and hats. Great looking unit and history. Appreciate the unit history and extra effort you bring to make our lockdown more tolerable. BTW, I've forgotten what ruleset are they based for?

KYPD38,

No worries at all!

I look forward to seeing the next unit.

Thanks everyone.

Takeda – not based for any specific rules. As I provide both sides it is not a problem. My basing was inspired by Streeter's Plan. I wanted my RoF to have a feel of his, the pike blocks in particular. Which is one of the reasons that the pikes are slightly exaggerated. Of course the makeup of packs from Peter Pig had a hand in it too. One RoF is two packs of muskets, one and a half packs of pike, half a pack of command, and a smattering of halberdiers. So two RoF falls neatly into packs of figures with few leftovers.
