There is no real quarantine in the Netherlands, only an urgent appeal to stay indoors as much as possible, and shop alone – social distancing is mandatory. As retirees we miss our usual Thursday shopping trip, one week to our province capital, Groningen, the other to Germany, for cheap groceries and gas. Groningen is still out, but starting tomorrow we will ber allowed to enter Germany again, providing we wear face protection – even if it's only a scarf. So yes, on Thursday we'll be in Germany again, mask and all. First shopping trip together in well over a month. |

They sound like ers. I'll do what I always do, stay home, make models and watch laserdiscs. I was built for quarantine. |

This is tiresome. I will not wake up one morning and read that "the Lockdown has gone away!" and if I did, it would be a very sluggish start as stores and restaurants rounded up and trained personnel and secured inventory. I might be permitted to visit a used bookstore in May. I am unlikely to be allowed to attend a wargame convention this year. I will resume my customary activities as and when the government permits me to. If you want an interesting question, ask people what they WON'T resume. |

Here there isn't going to be a "done with quarantine". First, we don't have a quarantine. But hey, if people want to use a big word that either they don't understand or are deliberately misusing to create an effect, sure, whatever. My government and work are both working through gradual lifting of disease control restrictions. The rapid deployment of restrictions was disruptive. An instantaneous removal of all restrictions would be worse. What do I miss right now? - There will be a plan to either make up or pay forward to next year's tickets for hockey, soccer and rugby matches that have been cancelled. I hope at least one of the sports plays make up games instead of comping for next season. - Happy hour with work colleagues. - Have people over for game day. This may also take some planning as people may have some "binge socializing" of their own in the immediate schedule. |

I'm delaying ordering one entire contingent, plus some additions for a near-completed army, until I'm certain that I've survived (or at least an effective means of treating those badly affected has been developed). There will be paint. |

rmaker misquoted the Bard as follows: "First thing we do, let's hang all the lawyers!" – W. Shakespeare The actual line, said by Dick the Butcher, is, "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers." Henry VI, Part II, Act IV, Scene II. Dick has been listening to the rebel Jack Cade describe his his intentions to overthrow the state, redistribute everything, and install himself as autocrat, and his suggestion of killing all the lawyers is his contribution to Cade's plan to destroy England. They are not sympathetic characters in the play. It's a very long stretch to suggest that Shakespeare (let alone his audience) would have supported overthrow of the monarchy and radical redistribution of land and wealth. |

I imagine that the first big change in my life will be that I'll go to the office. That will be nice. It kind of bookends the day and the week, rather than the constant Zen flow of -now- that I'm experiencing. |

would have supported overthrow of the monarchy and radical redistribution of land and wealth. The vast overwhelming majority of people who advocate such action advocate redistribution from "them" to "us" (which often quickly becomes "me"), but certainly not from "us" to "those others" whose plight is worse than ours. |

My first two priorities are: A nice family dinner out. Joining us will be our son, our cousins and their son and daughter in law. Hopefully our favorite local restaurants will be able to reopen. Back to the pool! Two days a week of water volleyball and 3/4 of swimming. Right now walking and biking for exercise are fine but the pool is better to keep my weight at a reasonable level and a hellava lot more fun. |

I suspect many people will have seen more than enough of their immediate families by the time they can get out again. Anyway, the Regiment is my family! |

Interesting… only our friend genew49 choise the family as fist option… SWMBO is here with me. I Skype with SOM and DOM a couple of times a week. They would otherwise visit once a month or so for game day and Skype less often. I call my mother every week as normal. 1000 miles, so we only visit a couple times a year. Haven't missed one yet. SWMBO has missed visiting my aunt once a month to help her out. We call her a lot now and stay on the line when she has home medical care visit. Same intermittent calls/email/text/FB with my sisters as normal. One is 800 miles one way and one 800 miles the other. We normally only visit on holidays. Again, haven't missed a regular visit. Normally, we visit SWMBO's family for July 4th. I think that one will still be OK. One nephew and niece-in-law 800 miles in a different direction. Don't usually visit them; they're just starting out on their own and figuring stuff out. My niece makes game day every few months. She made the last one before contagion control methods. |

As an "essential worker" I am still here working. I would really like to see my granddaughter in person again, sweet little toddler kisses. Also my soon to be born grand son. In person church will be nice, online is ok, but real people worshiping together much better in my book. |
