I am having a battle between 4000 Zulus and 700 Confederate cavalry for an alternative history book project, and would like some suggestions from Fire and Fury V2 on what rules should be added.

I have 200 Zulus and 50 with rifles, should these me mixed in or on separate skirmish stands-
Should their be a ZOOOLU charge bonus?
What morale would the Zulus be?
How many guns would be with the Cav unit?

Thanks for any ideas in advance.

I would use the rifle armed Zulus in a separate unit from the others

I would give them a +1 on charge and would rate them as veterans

For guns do you mean artillery? Because true Reb cavalry would mean pretty much every trooper had a long arm

Actually Confederate cavalry would not necessarily all have "long arms." And if they did, the weapons would be a mix of rifled muskets, rifled ( rare) and smoothbore (common) carbines, pistols of various types and calibers, shotguns, and some sabers.

At Rorke's drift Zulus with rifles separated and moved to higher ground to provide fire support. On other occasions Zulus with muskets were reported mixed in the Impis themselves. So you can do either.

The official forums on the publisher's website include ones for variants of the rules, including 19th century Colonial warfare, which may have some ideas you could use. Try posting a query on those if you haven't done so already.

Since you are doing alternate history, how about tossing in a company of Texas lancers?

Don't forget that every Confederate cavalryman has at least 6 Le Mat revolvers. (Or is that only reenactments?)
