So say you got your stimulus money and want to support small gaming companies, so you're working your way through your old wish lists and decide your want to buy Hind Commander.

Not for sale not the company site, which links to War-game Vault for other games, but HC is not there.

Shadows in the Void is a space game that is apparently a descendant, but how different is it?

Anyone know?

Thanks.

Wierd. I wonder why it is no longer for sale. No idea about the differences between the systems, but if want a hardcopy of the rules, they seem to be for sale here.

I have Shadows, and just skimmed through it to find the following from the author in the designer notes.

I had a solution – the core rules of Hind Commander, my first printed wargame: unique, focused on fog of war,
electronic combat and simple, but important synergies between the units. Nevertheless, it required a lot of effort to avoid creating rules about "helicopters in space". The game had to be quicker and more straightforward, so many aspects were simplified, because a sci-fi game doesn't need so many details. Written orders disappeared, numerous details were changed or adjusted, and when it came to realism, some compromises were made to enhance playability. I decided to keep the modified turn sequence, the idea of tracking and locking-on, as well as the general dice roll philosophy with some minor modifications. I decided against realistic space flight, because it would bring no significant advantages, while making the game too dull and complicated. Additionally, it would force me to introduce two different movement mechanics, as the battles can take place both in deep space and over planet surface.

Thanks!

Still not sure what to do. I like simplified systems. Probably buy Shadows. It would be nice to spend some money at PicoArmor, though.

Ask if they'll do a reprint, or list it as a PDF on Wargame Vault/other.

Hind Commander is now completely sold out on Pico Armor.
