Last Saturday, rules author Buck Surdu gamemastered a "Wars of Ozz" battle for Greg Priebe and I using Discord. "Wars of Ozz" is an upcoming mass battle set of rules and figures project being done by Old Glory/Blue Moon featuring a unique take on the world of Oz. For this battle we did Winkies & Gillikens vs Quadlings. Check out the report on my blog: link

I never read past the first Oz book. Were there a lot of battles? |

So this is not the Wizard of Oz, per se. There are fights in the books, but I don't recall any large battles. Wars of Ozz is set in a post-apocalyptic world created by the "Madness Bombs. After the last great war, mutations (great winged apes, wizards, witches, Zilks) evolved as well as the inhabitants of Munckinland, Winkie Land, Gillikin Land, and Quadling Land. Society had devolved into a form of feudalism and inter-tribal conflict until a man arrives calling himself Zoraster, the Wizard. He unites the Munchkins and begins to "civilize" the area, inspired by the Baum books. Much technology was forgotten, so armies are equipped with flintlock muskets. So this is NOT Dorothy and Toto. This is Ozz, inspired by Baum, but not Baum. |

This is the true story of Izz -- not the fairy tale. Russ Dunaway |

By the way, the activation system for the Wars of Ozz rules works well for solo and social distance play, as this battle report shows. This Saturday we are going to do it with four players, one in England. Look for that report next week. Buck |
