Today is the 245th anniversary of Lexington and Concord-the beginning of the War of the Revolution.

"the War of Revolution"

Funny, I've never heard that phrasing before. I've heard AWI, American War of Independence, or American Revolution, but never "the War of Revolution".

It is used because the American Revolution lasted actually from 1762 to the ratification of the Constitution, 1789.

The actual war occurred from 1775-1783 as all of us know.

I'm doing the same with 54mm Imrie/Risley infantry, artillery, and cavalry.

Yesterday I dug out the 200 or so of the above that I used in the classroom and have to repair and restore most of them. It was great digging them out again.

And I ordered an end table that has a display case on it to put them in.

FWIW, Rick Atkinson who wrote the Pulitzer prize winning US Army WW2 " Liberation" trilogy that started with An Army at Dawn has a new trilogy on the AWI. Thr first book "The British Are Coming: The War for America, Lexington to Princeton, 1775–1777" is out and I quite enjoyed it.

Speaking of 54mm, I pulled out the Barzso sets this morning. Lovely figures to set up and no better day to do so. Eventually I will paint them.

I have Atkinson's book and it's excellent. I'll most certainly get the next two.

THE INDISPENSIBLE MAN!!!

Agree. But there were two-the other being Benjamin Franklin. Because of him and his actions in Paris, the US got the French alliance, without which the US would have lost.
