Recently played an online WWI Kriegspiel game run the Rich & Nick of TFLs a couple of days ago. The scenario was 1st July 1918 the German had run out of gas just short of their objective Amiens. The objective of the Germans player was to plan and execute an offensive to capture Amiens. The objective for the British & French was to prevent the fall of Amiens and launch their own Offensive. The end result was the Germans came within a hair's breadth of capturing Amiens and winning the game before running out of supplies. Since without suppies it was obvious that the Germans wouldn't be able to stop the Entente's offensive the game was called, a victory for the Entente players. The game was very enjoyable and interesting and I think I learned a little about the difficulties of coordinating various corps into a workable plan. Then there was the problem of the difficulties of distributing and positioning supplies to carry out that plan. Kudos to Rich a Nick along with all the players. With players the from the UK, various parts of the US, Canada, Australia and I believe Sweden just dealing with all the different time zone must have been crazy to deal with not to mention a bunch of wild games. |
