Hey all,

I would like to ask for some book (or book series, even better!) recommendations for (at least somewhat plausible) fiction about modern/contemporary surface ships, from patrol ships to cruisers, anything with guns and/or missiles really.

For reference, I really liked David Poyer's novels (I have read all of them!), and also I loved the old australian tv show "Sea Patrol" so I am looking for something similar.

Thank you!

There are quite a few to choose from. Can't think of any offhand right now though.

Of course, the South Atlantic cruise by the British Royal Navy in 1982 shouldn't be overlooked either.

Then of course, there are the skirmishes between the Indians and Pakistanis back in the day too. Not quite as interesting as the RN campaign, but still worth a read.

Douglas Reeman wrote several books based in the post-WW2 era.

The Bedford Incident is a good movie, if you're interested in watching some decent Cold War, sub-hunting action.
