I've faithfully carried my copy of Flat Top with me for well over 40 years. Five house moves. Sundry other disturbances. Never played during that time but I knew ITS time would come. That time is now – a WhatsApp game with two remote players.

But I can't find it…..!

Is it me or is this typical? You keep a treasure for decades then when you just really need it – YOU CAN'T FIND IT….!

Focus, When and where was the last time you longed for it? It will be filed in the polar opposite direction for there.

I'm too organized for that.

Also, anything I have to keep for 40 years before I need it gets tossed after 2.

If you haven't worn it in 12 months, donate it. We're pretty ruthless about giving away anything that's really just life ballast. "I might want it some day" is not a reason to keep something.

Typical, sadly.

Sorry, Extra Crispy, but Flat Top falls into the category of "My precssssious, my precsssious!"

You have to buy another. Shortly after it's irrevocable--no way to get your money back on the new one--the old one comes out of hiding.

Yep. Can't find my original World of Greyhawk folio anywhere. I have my old D&D/AD&D stuff together, but it's missing from the mix. I don't think I sold it or gave it away, but that's a possibility.

I also can't find my copy of The Face in the Frost, which I couldn't find for years after we moved until suddenly I found it a couple of years ago (much delight)— only now I've mislaid it again. It was a paperback, so no big deal, but the novel is now out of print, and not available at my local library. Bummer.

That's my wife's philosophy (although curiously, it doesn't seem to apply to her "stuff"). To me, it's the attitude of an arid, heartless apparatchik (nothing personal grin). To hell with stark minimalism. All hail maximalism.

Now, amongst all that other stuff I've carted round for 40 or even 50 years….where IS Flat Top…..?

Perhaps you need to clean out the room/closet you keep your gaming things in. If it doesn't turn up, you're sure to find enough things you no longer want and can sell off to pay for a new copy.

And then when I find it, I find I've got three copies of the darn thing.

I'm more likely to think I don't have it and buy a duplicate.

Check the Last Place first! It's always there…

Heh, just happened to me today. Tore the house apart looking for some of my mold-making stuff, hours & hours. No luck. Then just before sitting down at the computer for the night, found it under the chair, buried under some papers. Like Dilbert's garbage man says "Sometimes the harder you look, the better it hides"… ;-)

I don't feel so alone and bereft anymore grin. And I've thought of somewhere I haven't looked yet so there's a glimmer of hope.

I'll let you know.

deja vu!
Spent 3 days looking for a missing mini. Tore the house apart (again) searching for it (even cleaned up a little. ;-) Took a short nap, rolled out of bed, and "son of a Bleeped text!", saw it in a clear plastic bits box that was near my foot. Not where I last remembered it… LOL

(I love using that bleep icon… ;-)
