Buildings look to be mdf. Who made the various trains and rolling stock? |

From Martin, who constructed the terrain, (and dares not visit TMP) it is: Rolling stock are either ebay purchases of TT scale or diecast collector engines(del prado or similar) Flat wagons Peter Pig. Burnt wagons scratch built (laser cutter). DB |

It's a thing of beauty! Perhaps SELWG? EC |

No SELWG this year. It'll be back in 2021 in a new venue. A sports centre near Tottenham Hale was mentioned as a possible new location. |

Also interested to see what others are doing for scenarios. What rules were you planning to use for the game? Did you have a scenario that you are willing to share (I understand if not)? Thanks for the reply! Ryan |

Doctor X Answer from the principal engineer : The basic mill is from Commission Figurines but has been modified from the original kit. The other buildings were made from scratch. I did the drawings on 2d design cad before cutting them on a laser cutter |

Wooly As per the article. The game was going to be used as part of the launch of Dave Brown's "O Group" rules which was scheduled for Salute. Martin (the game designer) extended the game structure to include the logistics the Soviet army faced in getting men over the Volga and into the battle. To do that we borrowed some elements from the Pavlov's House boardgame |

Teppsta – thanks for taking time to respond. I'd like to hear more about the work that went into bringing the mdf buildings to life, like texturing, etc. Unfortunately, Commission doesn't have any other pic of the Mill other than a head on view. They also don't have any dimensions. |

Dr X, From Martin: The apartment blocks, the warehouses and other outbuildings and extensions to the mill were all drawn up on C.A.D (2d design software before being cut out of mdf on a laser cutter. These consisted of a an inner layer of window frames and an outer layer of holes for doors and windows. All roof joists and balcony were also cut. These elements were assembled with pva. Textured brick work paper was also cut on the laser cutter using the same files for the buildings (mill extension and out buildings) once stuck on these were feathered into the model from commision with a series of dry brushes and washes. Roof sections were covered with card over the laser cut joists. A relief squeeze tube from gede was used to put on the effect of tar paper. Floors that could be seen were made from wills wood effect plastic sheet. Apartments were sprayed with an off white craft paint from Montana. This works well at it is thicker than most spray paints and seals the burnt edges of the mdf. Rubble piles were added using a thick card framework and sculptamould. Buildings were dry brushed using tester pots making sure strokes were vertical. A wash was the applied in the same way. Once dry another light dry brushing was applied. Hand painted streaks where painted as well as painting in interior wall colours and also the exposed and damaged walls with bricks. I had made up a large bag of rubble from various sources. A watered down pva was brushed onto the rubble piles and the rubble scattered over it. This was then sprayed with very watered down pva from a diffuser. |

Thanks David and Teppsta for channeling Martin's words over to TMP. Where did you find the textured brick paper in this scale? |
