I love plastic figs but all the extra bits can be a bit of a delimma. How much do you keep? For Instance, the old Wargames Factory WSS spre gave you some 7 extra heads, weapons etc. how much do you keep? The new PSC tanks often give you options to make different versions of a tank, do you keep the extra turrent/barrel etc? I'm down to less than 25% now. All of it you never know! 75% 50% 25% none, all goes in the trash |

Throw sprue in the recycle bin. Extra arms etc keep most of them. |

All the bits, and prior to last week all the sprue as well. You never know when you need some plastic rod. Storage finally became an issue so while I'm on lockdown I'm going through the sprue box with a pair of diags and trimming out all the straight pieces of usable length so I no longer have a tangled mess of interlocked sprues. All the bits and some of the sprue. |

Specifically on PSC tanks, I keep a fair bit of the leftovers..things like spare gun barrels can be useful for conversions or upgrades for kits from other sources, and the Sherman sandksirts recently got chopped up and turned into the stowage bins widespread in 4th Armoured Brigade. A 95mm Churchill howitzer found its way onto a Cromwell HQ tank. From Sherman unused hulls I trimmed off the tools to transplant to less detailed Armourfast kits. I don't keep them on the sprues as that would create clutter. |

Pretty much all of it I have a bunch of the WSS original Wargames Factory and when I finish with the box I take off all the extra bits and put them in Ziplock bags – one for grenadier heads, one for arms, etc They have come in handy!

I keep them all. I am using FF mongol arms and GB arab arms on my ACW project. Cut the swords down to a knife and a grey plastic arm is a grey plastic arm. TIG |

At the risk of having tomatoes tossed at me… From a wargamer's perspective, I'll say that I'm starting to wish certain sprues, especially from *certain* manufacturers, would have more complete figures/models and fewer bits. I do like some customization, but if I have to chose between ten extra heads and enough parts to make a complete model for an army project, I'll take more complete models. I've got drawers full of bits; I don't need -that- much more. Yes, there was a time when it was difficult to find good pieces for customization, but I wonder if we aren't going too far in the other direction now. |

Almost all (except for what was lost.) Refurbing my 45+ year old 1/35 collection, and have a couple bags of old parts, so sorting them back to where they are supposed to go (plus some kitbashing… ;-) |

Keep some of the extra bits, give some away, throw the rest out. I have a lot of storage room but it is finite. Never keep any sprue. |
Martin Rapier | 14 Apr 2020 11:49 p.m. PST |
I keep a lot of it. Wrt PSC I don't necessarily keep all the Hull options but I keep some. Stowage, gun barrels, crew, tracks etc, keep the lot In some of those models there are enough bits to build complete additional vehicles. I also keep lengths of sprue itself as it is useful modelling material |

I'm a heretic. I throw it all out when the models are done. I had a bits box and Never Used It. It fell one day, bits everywhere, and rather than sort it I tossed it. Haven't missed it, now I toss the sprues too. |
