Stuck inside I found some old JR Miniatures buildings. The castings were not great and have suffered from being moved quite a bit, but waste not, want not. My first plan was to make a simple industrial base. But then I had a brain wave. I left a blank spot for a CD so I could drop in different bits and repurpose the stupid thing. It can be a launch pad one day, a comms relay site another, and a bug hole the day after that. Just use an old CD to make a new focal point. A bunch of pics here (and I'll be updating this as I go): link

Nice! Old CDs as terrain bases for objectives and the like is one of my favorite starting points back when I was making terrain for my son and his WH40K buddies. |

A tip when using CDs (which I screwed up in teh pic above). Use the BOTTOM of the CD. That is where all the grooves are. It gives your glue something to grab on to. The top is mirror smooth (actually the top IS a mirror usually of aluminum, then covered in a label). |

You can also scuff the CD with sandpaper or steel wool to allow any glue to adhere better. I've made a number of jungle pieces and ancient overgrown ruin pieces using CDs as bases. Jim |

An excellent idea. Yoko Ono is going to be sad that you're using her "Greatest Hits" CD for that though. |

I have four trees to add, trying to decide how much greenery I want on it…. |

I'd make the trees weighted with washers, and just keep them separate, for more flexibility. |
