I have extensive fleets of WW2 1:3000 warships from Navwar and Davco, but would like more merchant ships. The Panzerschiffe miniatures look good but of course are 1:2400, so are about 25% larger. Are there any of the sets that provide ships that would not look too incongruous? I was thinking coastal freighters would appear more like ocean-going ships. |

+1 YellowAdmiral I've at times resorted to using Navwars to stretch 2400 mercantile offerings. They make a lot, but when I visited the Navwar website earlier today, it looked like their "Liner" offerings had shrunk considerably. Is it me, or has the line been reduced. There used to be viable AKs mixed in with the liners. Re the OP. 2400s will be problematic with 3000s. The length, beam and ships boats will all be fudge-able, but the height will be noticeably off. Sorry. Shapeways and WTJ make some 3000 scale Mercantiles, but they aren't inexpensive. Fujimi does some 3000 scale harbor displays, but most of the ships are warships. |

Panzerschiffe merchants come in two types The ships in the Merchant ship Groups are quite high, as mentioned by HMS Exeter above, this is particularly true of the Italian Liners (inspired by some of the 1930s travel posters from the look of it). The ships in some of the WW1 national lists seem compatible, so some of the other may be as well. Have you looked at the North Head Miniatures range on Shapeways? Cheers David |
