I've been interested in researching Romania as of late and have been thinking of looking at a Napoleonic army. While not a popular army to model or paint is there any companies that make any models in this era? |

Romania was Turkish territory in the Napoleonic period. |

Parts of it were in the Grenz region of Austria/Hungary too so some of the Grenz Regiments are Transylvanian, Wallachian and Romanian. Regiments 14-17 I think. |

Romania was Turkish territory in the Napoleonic period. Well… Moldavia and Wallachia were two semi-independent principalities under Otttoman Turkish overlordship, to be precise. (And Transylvania was part of Hungary, and hence Austrian.) The principalities presumably had some sort of military establishment, but I have no idea what. |

A few things that I have picked up from reading about the Russo-Ottoman wars of the Napoleonic era: A mix of Balkan civilian clothing, as well as Russian and Ottoman influences. I think that pandur units would look pretty similar to their SYW counterparts. I did see a reference to Moldavian or Wallachian pandurs having a green coat. Cloth was issued by district to make coats for that district's troops, but I didn't find anything about cut or color. A coat was apparently the only issued uniform item, assuming that they were made and distributed. I would expect the irregular elements to be in civilian garb. I found this: link |

There are Seressaners in 15mm (Honved), 18mm (Eureka) and 20mm (Irregular) that might be a good starting point. There is another (North Star) who do a European Sekhan that might suit but I can't find it on the net at the moment – they may have used a different name or spelling or maybe they don't make them any more. Perhaps someone else here knows. Old Glory 15s has European Sekhans that may also be suitable. I'm no expert and I haven't seen these latter figures "in the lead". This site may be of use link especially for 25/28mm about which I know even less . . . |
