"A Vietnamese fishing boat with eight crew members on board was sunk after being hit by a Chinese ship near the disputed Paracel Islands, local authorities said on Friday, a move that may increase tension in the South China Sea.

"This is the first time a Chinese ship has hit and sunk boats in our commune this year," said Nguyen Van Hai, a local official from the Quang Ngai province, a few hundred kilometres from the Paracel Islands…"

I'm much more inclined to believe the Vietnamese version of the story.

Let's see the paint scrapes, and/or dents on the Chinese vessel.

China can do whatever they want to; it sucks being bullied, but no one will do anything about it

This is the first time a Chinese ship has hit and sunk boats in our commune this year," said…

Commune? Does that mean the Vietnamese are good commies and the Chinese are bad commies?

The world is reeling from the effects of a viral outbreak that originated in China. The PRC has the temerity to try to blame the outbreak on the US. And they think that now is a good time to try this.

As my momma used to say when she felt like I was pushing my luck…

"when you're walking on eggs, don't hop."

Rather than good commie or bad commie, I think it is one big commie and one small commie.

They are both still communists with all the term implies.

I just wonder if China will overstep or if they can keep acting this way. Stealing from smaller, poorer neighbors is bad form. There are always limits to power, and humans usually run into them.

There are no "good" commies.

China has already massively overstepped by building ALL those militarized islands in the SCS, which of course they promised to never militarize, not to mention how they are bullying smaller, weaker nations in the region at sea, so……

Of course, no one is holding them accountable for it, and while this was being done the world's leaders were asleep at the switch, and kept dithering until it was a fait accompli.

Reminds me a bit of just prior to WWII.

Actually, I wish you were correct, Andrew, but for Xi and Putin, who are Presidents for life, and/or dictators, the "there are always limits to power…." comment doesn't seem to apply.
