Today I will show you how I paint my US Marines with, mainly, GW Contrast colors. As I have to stay at home this week , because of Corona, I had the time to take a picture after each step.

Well done. The boots in brown is clever. I use black undercoat, so, being lazy, you can guess the rest. OK I will do the green canvas and drybrush the black with earth.

But when I see my jungle boots, which have rarely been anywhere warmer than the North York Moors and even with a black polish every few years….they are brown now!

Great post! Thanks for that.
Two questions.
How did you do the flesh?
About how long does it take for figure?

Nice to see flak jackets done other than brown and tan.
Your example has been the closest to the actual color yet, green coated with dirt. In I Corps, both flak jackets. utilities and the canvas sides of the jungle boots took on a pinkish tint from the dust, mud and shade of earth. Would love to see that done by any of the painting gurus or our resident non Vietnam veteran "expert". This is the most accurate flak jacket color posted so far. At least, closest to what I wore. But than again, in these threads and posts, those of us who served are often referred to as
"the" experts, NOT veterans. We didn't get much respect when we came home and put any such disrespect now in its proper place.

Great tutorial and great work. Thomas, some of your best work yet.

thank you for your post,

Sam

Nice looking paint job. Did you put the contrast paint in dropper bottles?

The flesh is done with Gulliman flesh from the GW Contrast range.
It takes about 4 hours to do 8 of them.
Yes I put the paint in dropper bottles , cause i know myself! Spilling paint and so on…
