Excellent. I really appreciate rules authors explaining their rules. |

Very fun set of rules to play! I have played them a couple times at conventions and had a great time with them. Having never played them before they were quick to learn and easy to understand. Highly recommended. |

Looks good in 25mm. This is Phil's latest version. Not sure why he has not "unified" the base depths to make more room for today's bigger figures. I still play the original DBA now and then ,but this latest version shows how good the original version was, as so little needed changing. Excellent video. Well done Mr Barker and US team! |

Er? Phil Barker is not in any why involved in this, except that the Triumph authors have liberally borrowed from his rules. |

Whoops, Sorry. But it does look exactly like Phil Barker's rules. I find that a bit troubling if they just copy his rules wholesale and deprive him of his income. Maybe they feed him a fee for each set they do? Maybe no one else cares on TMP? If so I will move along. |

I'm pretty sure they're not paying him any royalties or the like. |

TRIUMPH! was developed by gamers who saw some ways to improve on the basic DBA engine. DBA 3.0 split the DBA community apart. TRIUMPH! has more troop types, different combat outcomes and a point system that allows more than 12 bases per army to be fielded in many cases. It retained the one base = one unit of DBA. TRIUMPH! is a better game, IMO. |

I started with DBA 2.2 in 2013 and have played 2.2, 2.2+, and run 3.0 tournaments. (Great time to start huh? Maximum rules confusion.) Most of our group swtiched over to Triumph!, but we still have DBA fans. I am happy to play if DBA is being put on, but I prefer Triumph! I think it is an easier system to teach new players and I have taught both systems at conventions. The army lists in the 3.0 purple book are an excellent resource as is the on-line lists that are available on Meshwesh with Triumph!. Triumph! was developed in response to the DBA authors asking that 2.2+ stop being promoted and played. Royalty payments seems a silly innumerate point IMHO. I always thought there was two authors for DBM of which DBA is an off shoot , shouldn't we be congratulating both authors not just one? Richard Bodley Scott co-authored hordes of the things as well as BDM up to version 3.0 or the one before that before the two authors went their separate ways. |

DBA came first, released in 1990. DBM was released in 1993. |
