Does anyone know of an outlet for a 1.25 inch/35mm long 'Flying Tiger' teeth decal? All I've found thus far are 2" or longer… link My obligatory 'fine print' tale of woe: I'm trying my hand at 3D printing, and have the makings of a Vertibird from Fallout in 28mm-ish scale. However….I note that the paint scheme I'd like to try on the fuselage includes some 'Flying Tiger teeth'. Measuring the model, I need a pair of decals (one for each side) that are about 1-1.25 inches (or 25-35mm-ish) long. My problem is there are apparently a billion sellers of such decals, but every one I've found has been too big. Does anyone know a good source for smaller decals? |

I'm never ashamed to confess ignorance (get plenty of practice with regard to technology), but… couldn't you increase the size of the aeroplane? Robert Le Diable, April 1, 2020. |

Okay…I almost bit on that you bad boy….thanks for including the date so I didn't look the 'fool'. |

I really don't know much about this new 3D printing, but recently on the Napoleonics Boards there were photographs of a farmhouse model made this way, and it was shown how dimensions could be varied until a satisfactory configuration was achieved. So, to tell you the truth, I thought you were making an apparently foolish, back-to-front enquiry, because of the day of course (no joke, either). Good Luck. |

Date aside, and meandering commentary aside, it is an actual inquiry. The offending (and very much sci fi) aircraft is here:
I could scale up and down the model itself, but in this case they need to match a line of 28mm figures, so….I have to go decal hunting. |

Ah! That makes perfect sense, Aladdin; with regard to Historical miniatures, the biggest problem I've got of this nature is trying to get horses which don't look like ponies by comparison with their riders. Hope you're successful in finding some solution to this matter of consistency. At 15mmm scale I'd get away with just painting such a detail, but vehicles &c. are a different matter especially in the larger scales. Good Luck. |

Academy P-40B Tomahawk kit in 1/72 scale has the shark mouth decals-- measuring a straight line from the upper front lip to the back of the open mouth is 26mm. Close enough? Most likely any 1/72 Flying Tiger decal set would work as well. |

Why not just hand paint it? |

If you want, I could resize some of my existing decals to the size you need. Feel free to contact me. Kevin miscmini.com |

I generally agree with Lonkka1Actual, but would recommend painting the entire mouth white, then using red and black artist's pens to delineate the teeth and lips. |

One and all- thank you! I've got some options to consider now- and thanks khanscom for measuring the 1/72 scale decal for me! |

Just a shout out to Kevin at Miscellaneous Miniatures for quickly providing me with custom decals resized for my project. He provided me with an image of the decals sized to fit, and made several modifications I requested within a couple of hours. He mailed them within a day, and they are currently gracing my vertibird model per the picture above. I'll put up some pictures of the model when it is done, but just wanted to thank him for his excellent customer support. -Mike |
