So this is not a "tell me how to do terrain on the cheap" post. I'm not looking for inexpensive or DIY terrain. I'm looking more for, if I am just starting out getting 28mm Sci Fi terrain, which pieces/ terrain sets will go the furthest to get the most use out of them in multiple games. An example of the opposite would be the crashed Thunderhawk made by Forgeworld. While this is a BEAUTIFUL piece of terrain , how many battles do I really want a crashed spacecraft in? (maybe EVERY battle for some of you!). The reason I ask is I'm starting out a 30k project for battles on Prospero, primarily in the city of Tizca. I'm starting off with smaller battles and therefore don't have to dump a ton of money into terrain right away. I know there are a ton of choices out there. Just looking to see what other people like. 1 thing that I do already have in spades are large high quality resin shell craters. I forget who the maker is but I picked up about 12 on Ebay as I figured craters pretty much go with any terrain. Thanks for any tips. |

A Kickstarter for the re-release of the original metal figures for Legions of Steel has been launched. link Each pledge does come with a pdf copy of the beta test rules, counters, etc, although it is available by itself at a smaller pledge level. |

You can't have enough rubble piles and ruined walls for city battles. |

Agreed Darth# @Mad Monkey, I thought the GF9 line was out of commission! Glad to see it back up and running. I think my craters I mentioned and one other Rubble Pile I own are both by them. Quality stuff, and a nice change to the typical GW ruins (which I like too!). The 1 GF9 piece I could never aquire was the fountain surrounded by rubble piece. Edit to the above: I just found the Fountain piece for $25. USD That's gonna look great on my table. THANKS MAD MONKEY! |

For Prospero and Tizca, I would go with an ancient Egyptian theme. Find Egyptian ruins for your terrain. |

Raynman, Ive already located a descent sized pyramid. For houses, based on some of the artwork ive seen, I was thinking of going with medieval to modern N. African style buildings painted in a white color scheme. When I get on to bigger tables for bigger battles Ill pretty much be going with Blue Forge foam terrain at that point. Blueforgeterrain.com |
