Hello everyone¡
I hope you and your family to stay healthy.
I bought in ebay a box of Airfix "Washington Army".
I received a box from Chicago… it maintain the price it had… 58 cents

picture

I felt a little guilty cutting they away…but they are done for using them; don you think so?
It´s the first time I see them physically, They have a big head, but with the exception of their short legs they look great.

picture

They have the unique AWI prone poses in the market…

I thought in making a small unit of German Jagers; they are a scout unit, these kinds of poses may be appropriate for this unit.
I thought that using not standing poses and adding the jacked boots they would conceal their short legs. For the standing firing pose, I have changed his legs for another ones from the Accurate figures.

picture

I have transformed the Officer, from an standing to a sitting pose.
So I did three bases… in skirmishing, scouting and ambushing…

Thank you very much for watching¡

Really excellent modelling.

I remember getting my set back in the mid 70s and how disappointed I felt. I didn't play with them much at all 🙁 You've worked wonders with what I always considered one the worst sets. Bravo!

And don't feel guilty about using vintage figures. Toy soldiers are wasted in the box.

Nice work! I may still have some – if you need some more, they could be yours for the cost of the postage.

Great job with a very odd ball set of poses.

What do you use for glue?

Very well done! I wasn't very convinced by pic three but after that – Wow! Fantastic work!

Excellent work.

I had them years ago and converted them to French SYW infantry. They looked great but not as good as yours.

The mounted officer was converted to Napoleon of course.

I used that set to make a 1/72 Prussian 1805 army many years ago.

Thank you very much for all your positive comments; as I said, they have a very weak legs but their upper part is very valid and expressive. The combination of green and red is a strong (they are complementary colors) contrast, this help. I have tried to give more variety to the bases and a better finish to them; The same figures can gain a lot in good bases.
Hello lucky1oldman, I use normal cianocrilate adhesive, is important to sand both part before gluing them, is enough for figures that are going to be based.
Hello Skeptic, thank very much for the offering, may be, there aren´t a lot in internet…with the rest of the figures of this box I ´m finishing a continental unit,…and an artillery base¡ I will post them in the following days..
Thank you very much again¡
Antonio.

Antonio, really great modelling and painting in 1/72nd scale, and your AWI blog projects are inspirational!

1/72nd Airfix figures are what we started playing the American Rev with back in the 1970s, but our units never looked anywhere as good as yours (we would have been happy if our glossy enamel paint jobs had just stayed in place back then). :)))

Thank you FlyXwirw, perhaps, I try to make a blog for giving a opportunity to the plastic figures¡ , they are condemned to stay always with the same pose and the same role…their life can change with a small effort and imagination¡¡¡
When I was a child my figures were painted in a very basic way, o even not painted, but I didn´t realized it, I played a lot, and I was happier without seeing all the falls¡¡
Thank you,
Antonio.

After making a small unit of German Jagers with the Airfix figures I bought, I thought I had betrayed the Continental figures with a German units, so…I decided todo a real American unit¡¡¡
I decided to cut their legs and replace them with Accurate(Revell-Imex) figures…

picture

So an Airfix-Accurate-Revell-Imex reference¡¡¡

This time, a unit in dark blue and faced white.
