Sho Boki does them -only the horse is AB, the mounted officer is an "Austrian" one, which fits the bill approximately by paint conversion.

Reviving this thread as I'm finally approaching needing to put flags on my first Netherlands units.
vonW had asked about my tracing of the lineage of the flags in Vaubanner's sets to regiments that existed in 1793. I hadn't bothered to post that as Brownand (of Ca Ira, my main source for info on them) rightly pointed out the WAS flags are definitely out of date. He described some patterns and I've been trying to figure out what to do. I revive this as a number of the Vaubanner flags at least generally follow the principles he laid out.
Anyway, here's the lineage I found. Numbers are national regiment number from 1772
1 was Aylva
7 was Kinschott, Sr.
11 was de Guy
13 was Swartzenburg
15 was van Leyden
18 was Elias
20 was Mulert
Swiss #4 was Plantz
Swiss #5 was Constant
Oranje Friesland kept its name
Garde te Voet kept its name but good info on the right flag (and for the Swiss Guards) are in the Ca Ira blog.
As far as the 1st flags being white/off white with provincial arms and supporters I haven't yet gone through and checked that they show the right provinces for 1793 (which Ca Ira provides in another post – except for Regiment 11)
Since I'm doing only 16 figure battalions (15mm from Boki) and almost all of the regiments were only fielding one I can go with first colors and so will use the Vaubanners if the provinces match up for arms, until better pictures come along. Then I'll plan to replace with the right colors.
The second colors I would be shocked if they were close except in the case of the swiss regiments which seem to have had the same basic style whoever's army they were in…
Any feedback or hints of new product coming along (since Brownand mentioned Maverick)

Valmy,
i will put some provincial flags on Ca-ira this week
greetings

Valmy,
some flags are up.
The regiment nr 11 (van Dam) was disbanded in the beginning of 1793 and not reraised but until disbandment was on the repartition of Utrecht.

Valmy9214 May 2020 4:22 a.m. PST

Thanks Jan,
That's very helpful. Regiments 15 and 18 will be getting flags this weekend. Solves my mystery on regt 11 too.

Following up, in your post on the Hollandse Garde you said it's flag was about 1 meter square. I wanted to confirm that and ask if that applies to the National regiments? It just seems small in comparison to the others of the era, though if correct could be the example Napoleon followed in making the 1804 pattern so small.
Thanks again for all your efforts,
Phil

Brownand14 May 2020 8:47 a.m. PST

Phil,
yes, the national regiments had the same flag measurements. The Orange Nassau flags (we have 2 in the Rijksmuseum) measured 108*96cm and 105*98 cm.
The Groningen one 99*95 cm, the Holland one 97*97cm and the Overijssel one 98*102

And th flagpoles were black coloured

Valmy9201 Jul 2020 9:40 a.m. PST

Hi Brownand, following up again, what search terms did you use on the Rijksmuseum site? When I searched flags it came up with a number of items but all the ones from our period of interest came up with a color block and said the image wasn't yet digitized. Any thoughts? Was looking because the rest of the regiments at Fleurus are from different provinces.
Thanks,
Phil

looking forward to see the miniatures with colours.

Valmy9201 Jul 2020 12:46 p.m. PST

I have to figure out where to host pictures to do it. Has photobucket become viable again? Other suggestions?

Henry Martini01 Jul 2020 4:48 p.m. PST

Some of the rebels had another go in New South Wales in 1804, epturner.

There… this thread has now indisputably departed the 18th century.

Brownand02 Jul 2020 2:29 a.m. PST

Valmy,
you should search for "vaandels"

Valmy9202 Jul 2020 3:08 a.m. PST

Thank you, that's really helpful. They show a number of colors 1700-1800 for green yellow and blue regiments. Do those long pre date us here?
Thanks again,
Phil

Phill, these are flags of the civic guard (schutterij) of Amsterdam of the 18th century up to 1795. The organisation in regiments was from 1650 onwards. There was an orange, yellow, blue, white and green regiment (from 1672 to 1681 there was also a purple).
This organisation and flags changed in 1795 when the dutch republic collapsed.
Afaik these civic regiments were not used in the field in the FR.
greetings, jan

I can't figure out how. It seems to be a Media design firm of some kind.

Trying a different method to see if this works better?

These look great but which regiment?

Valmy9209 Jul 2020 12:28 p.m. PST

Sorry, van Wartensleben on the right of the line viewed from behind (white turn backs) van Petit on the left with red turn backs. One battalion each with their grenadiers

Valmy9209 Jul 2020 12:40 p.m. PST

Working on Welderen and Oranje Gelderland now. Looking at both having Gelderland flags (or should Oranje have Oranje flags?) I was struck by how few Netherlands line units at Fleurus. 7 line, 6 grenadier, 2 guard plus lights and emigres

von Winterfeldt09 Jul 2020 1:24 p.m. PST

they look impressive, I would however wish you made a bit larger photos, hardly any detail visible.

Valmy9209 Jul 2020 1:32 p.m. PST

I'll have another go at the pictures what size do you select on post images.org?

Third try is the charm? Or I'll have to jump on computer rather than phone to adjust settings

von Winterfeldt10 Jul 2020 7:18 a.m. PST

much better thanks, the larger the size the better – post image will resize for the forum but when you right click you can get larger images.

From whom did you order the paper colours??

Valmy9210 Jul 2020 7:27 a.m. PST

I actually downloaded the photographs, printed them resized in Microsoft paint. I used the obverse for both sides. I'm not totally happy with the result. The off white came out a little pink and I wonder if some of the off white is age yellowing of the white silk anyway. Colors aren't brilliant on the coats of arms either. Unfortunately I'm not up to free-handing (on the computer) a field of trophies to paste a coat of arms into. Maybe I'll print coat of arms then free-hand draw the trophies (which are not sharp or detailed in comparison to the coats of arms)

Valmy9230 Jul 2020 11:01 a.m. PST

Got my next two battalions/regiments done. On their right (orange lapels) van Welderen (6), on their left Orange Gelderland (red lapels and turnbacks).

Hoping I remembered how to do that right…
The flags, I downloaded images of the Gelderland coat of arms, printed it on white paper and hand drew the trophy flags around it. I wasn't particularly happy with my free-hand up close and in pictures, but at table distance I'll live with it.
This gives me 4 line battalions and a battalion of grenadiers. (I know they aren't the ones that go together, that comes later. Only one of the line battalions at Fleurus had its grenadier companies present in a Grenadier battalion…)
Next up Bylandt Jaeger and battalion guns.

great units, well done

Valmy9201 Aug 2020 5:57 a.m. PST

Thanks for that. Mine don't hold a candle to yours. I do now have enough done to form a brigade in a larger coalition force. I'm using AWI Hessians for the artillery and jaeger.
