Many years ago (almost 40) I visited the tank museum outside of Hämeenlinna. As I recall there was a display about a tank battle wherein Finnish T-26 & maybe T-28 took on a much larger force of T34-85 and driving them off.
I think they captured & SU-152 or similar with smoke as I recall.

Can anybody help me with the name of the engagement? Or perhaps correct my memory on details

Have you tried emailing the museum staff?

I don´t have any specific references at hand, and libraries being closed in Finland at the moment, I cannot check any specific details.

However, you are probably thinking of an engagement in June 1944, where a Finnish T-34-76 engaged a number of Red Army tanks.

During the same month, there was SU-152 or ISU-152 captured by smoking out the crew after the assault gun had got immobilised after losing a track. However, my understanding is that this action was carried out by infantry.

One of the battlegrounds that saw Finnish tanks in action was called Portinhoikka.

Portinhoikka crossroads.
That is the one I was thinking of.
Kiitos

Portinhoikka was the famous the counterattack during the largest battle in Fennoscandia ever, Tali-Ihantala.

T-26's were used in infantry support role during Tali-Ihantala and quite a few were, unsuprisingly lost. At Portinhoikka the heavy tank company functioned as the spearhead (T-34 and T-28s. And a KV-1, IIRC). Also Stug IIIs were used.

(The Finnish movie "Tali-Ihantala 1944" aka "1944 The Final Defence" from 2007 is not to be confused with theexcellent Estonian movie "1944" from 2015.)

Regarding the T-26 tanks, I think I recall that by the end of June or July 1944 Finnish military declared them obsolete. However, this did not seem to stop them being used against retreating German forces in Lapland later in the Autumn.

In the summer 1944, also the Finnish BT-42 company saw action. Not very surprisingly, they did not fare well when confronted with T-34 tanks.
