While under "house arrest" a lot of us are using that extra time to tackle our hobby projects. My project is a massive "spring cleaning" of my collections. There are a few reasons I chose this project:

1) There is likely a move to another city in my future. So I want to make sure all my troops are fully magnetized (based on steel with storage boxes lined with sheet magnet). I've made some E-bay purchases and a lot fo those troops have not yet gotten the magnet treatment.

2) Repair. As I go through each box I keep the super glue handy to repair any broken little bits. Mostly stuff that has popped loose from a base, or a gun shield that has come loose.

3) Sorting: Often I'm in a rush to clean up after a game, so Germans wind up in the American box, Bavarians get mixed in with Italians. This is a good chance to just go through and make sure everything is in its place.

4) Inventory & Photograph: I have an insurance policy on the collection, and this is giving me an opportunity to inventory and photograph it in an orderly way, in case I ever need to make a claim!

Just finished up my FoW German foot troops this morning:

Got my oob for Gross Jagersdorf with Napoleonic troops now need to figure how to make 3/4 the length and 1/2 the width of my game board woodland.

I've been working on a lot of projects as well. On the downside I am able, & having been, working from home, so that does put a damper on things…

@14Bore:

Outline all the "clear" terrain with twigs and clump foliage, and add the terrain needed there – buildings, rivers whatever.

Now you just fill the rest of the table with trees.

Don't have enough trees? Make cardboard cut out in irregular shapes. Paint dark green or brown. Top with balls of crumpled up newspaper or tin foil. Spray paint dark green, dry brush medium green. Rinse and repeat.

Any photographs of that, EC? Trees have been a concern for years.

14Bore28 Mar 2020 1:01 p.m. PST

I do have lots of trees ( see my river crossing game) could use them to line the woods along with small bushes and sticks for tree line, everything inside is woodland.

@Robert le Diable:

No, sorry. A friend of mine did that years ago for a game to bulk out his trees. It worked en masse (it was a 7x16 table). But I wouldn't use it for just a woods or two on a 6x4 table, if you know what I mean.

Be retired, I don't really feel much difference day to day. What I miss is seeing my daughters, sons in law and grand daughter. As long as I can get out of the house to walk, I am fine. Of course my wife is working from home, so that does have an impact on tv viewing.

Robert le Diable28 Mar 2020 5:29 p.m. PST

Yes, I can visualise that, E C, partly because that kind of massed, "fringing the table's edge" effect was what I've been planning for with a combination of fir cones and ragged lumps of sponge. Note "planning for". I do, however, have some decent trees for more conspicuous placing. Good Luck. R le D.

Badly?

I'm still at Camp Atterbury, Indiana.

The Exercise has completed. There is only administrative silliness to finish.

My work has been done for two days. Fortunately I have stuff to paint and a key for the Ops Center (since I signed for the building).

No way we can exfil until Monday afternoon at the earliest.

So… I'm painting 15mm ACW. Because that's what I packed.

I'm still working, so I am not getting extra hobby time.

huron725 Supporting Member of TMP29 Mar 2020 9:22 a.m. PST

I am still working remotely and I do have a ton of extra hobby(s) time. Just turn the TV off.

Been painting a ton again, including dabbling in watercolor. Exercising regimen is in full swing and my wargaming and sports board gaming (both solo) are in high gear. Just ordered a couple marching units from Front Rank 40mm AWI.

I am really going to be bummed when this all comes to an end and we have to go back to work onsite.

darthfozzywig29 Mar 2020 5:54 p.m. PST

Painted up the A Song of Ice and Fire miniatures starter Stark and Lannister armies. Then I painted up some of the Monolith Conan board game minis (Bossonian archers and halberdiers) that will make good ASOIAF mercenaries. Then I cut out movement trays for those mercenaries so they rank up like the ASOIAF minis.

Now I'm painting up some old Bretonnians as Westerosi knights.

So I'm getting a ton of painting done (more than I've felt like doing in a couple of years).

darthfozzywig29 Mar 2020 5:55 p.m. PST

And if the eBay shop in Pennsylvania isn't under lockdown, I've got more ASOAIF minis coming in the mail.

Apparently I've lost my mind.

Well, now that Governor Blackface has initiated stay at home lockdown in Virginia, can't even leave to go for a drive. Unless I stash a bag with a couple of cans of food and say I was shopping for food.

I think we are skating pretty close to Constitutional violations with some of this. All because he got mad at some bozos on the beach over the weekend.

Sheesh!

OH! I didn't know that. I was growing cabbage leaves and using them for the family ablutions.

14Bore02 Apr 2020 10:38 a.m. PST

Russians are paying the price for my bad dice rolls.

14Bore03 Apr 2020 9:28 a.m. PST

I think my Russians turned out to be the rabble Feld Marchal v. Lehman expected.
Thinking of calling it a draw and starting over

von Schwartz11 Apr 2020 6:53 p.m. PST

OH! I didn't know that. I was growing cabbage leaves and using them for the family ablutions.

Really, I just found some nice shiny leaves in my back yard that I'm gonna use. They even come in convenient clusters of 3 leaves.

14Bore12 Apr 2020 9:17 a.m. PST

Both sides are barely coping with my hot/ cold dice

14Bore16 Apr 2020 9:35 a.m. PST

All wrapped up, going back to work tomorrow.
Got a couple games in
