I was in a shop today. Seems that bread and milk are reappearing on the shelves. But all the beer is gone! Anyone else found this? Or is it just my corner of Britain? |

I'd rather have beer stocked at home than Bread and milk! |

At our local store the toilet paper and paper towels were all gone – as well as the flour – but there still was beer! |

Plenty of beer in Colorado. The governor attempted to close the liquor stores and pot shops. The ban lasted about 3 hours before the crowds caused the governor to recall the order. |

My wife and I gave up booze for Lent. Plenty of beer still in the fridge and on the back back porch. |

Might be a problem with limited local shipping resources perhaps? No issue here. My local brewpub is closed but is taking orders on the phone and dropping them off on your porch. |

Plenty of beer in Colorado. The governor attempted to close the liquor stores and pot shops. The ban lasted about 3 hours before the crowds caused the governor to recall the order. We Coloradans have our priorities. The lines were so large as to make any of the previous panic buying seem mild. |

I visited a few stores near me in Michigan today, the only item on my shopping list, I could not find was flour. However last Tuesday when Michigan issued the "shelter in place" rules, I know there was a huge run on alcohol at some of the better party stores in my area. |

When our governor announced the closing of non-essential businesses, I was initially surprised that liquor stores were allowed to remain open. It only took me a few minutes to realize that: a) It's probably going to be a long lockdown b) Even if it isn't, having them closed for more than a few days would be courting disaster c) The state taxes alcohol at 9%. With most retail revenues temporarily halted, it's good to keep an earner going. |

I don't drink the stuff, and so am happy to let the needy have what I won't consume… :-) |

One question or warning if it didn't happen yet toall of you in England, There hasn't been toilet paper in a grocery store in 2 weeks here across the pond. Alcohol has been fine except hard liquor in Pa is only sold by the state of Pennsylvania. |

Beer and alcohol are still normal here in Maine. Though I am surprised that the price of Corona has not gone down yet. I did go through the grocery store an hour ago to get a few items. The meat dept was just about back to normal. However; the shelves for paper products, pasta, most breads, fruit juices, and butter were empty. Mike |

All the bear is gone from my local Grocery store… Except for Corona. Lots and lots of Corona Beer. |

Shopped at the local supermarket on Wednesday. Down to one package of paper towels on the shelf; of course, no toilet paper or hand sanitizer. Plenty of everything else, including beer, non-alcoholic beer, Corona beer, and all of the micro-brewery beers. Cashier hooked me up with two pocket-sized bottles of watermelon-scented hand sanitizer -- the karmic result of having always been a pleasant and polite customer. |

I made sure I was well stocked with beer, wine and other adult beverages. |

Liquor stores are, of course, essential services. How else are people going to survive all day and night with their spouses and children week after week? |

No tp, no kleenex, no isopropyl, no hydrogen peroxide, no masks, no rubber gloves, no milk, no canned goods, but plenty of beer and, more importantly, (since we're next door to a public park) cheap vodka. Go figure…. |

khanscom is living in the very lap of luxury. Na zadrovye! as they say when drinking in public parks. |

In Australia the big brewers have been trying to get people to buy more beer, threatening to stop production altogether if people don't buy enough of their products. It doesn't seem to have worked, and even the media have dropped it now. |

Lots of talk of liquor stores in these posts. Do ordinary grocery stores and supermarkets not sell booze in the States then? Corona beer isn't really regarded as beer here. Except by idiot youths… |

Actually until jus a couple years ago in Pennsylvania they didn't carry any alcohol. In South Carolina they did. But there is only wine and beer sold in grocery stores here, scotch has to be bought in State run sores which there are only a few states that do that. |

One other thing I noticed that had a run on, office chairs.. With everyone wfh, I guess they are essential items… Of course the day I bought one for the good lady wife was the last day Ikea was open… 😊 |

In my part of Oz, police are patrolling bottle shops to stop people buying too much grog. But it is a problem when there isn't a virus as well, so not sure why they are doing it now….. |
