I mostly associate them with Normans, but I believe I've seen some manufacturers give those shields to Saracen infantry. You know the shields I'm talking about, round on top and coming to a long point at the bottom? Are you familiar with them ever being used by Muslim cavalry (Seljuks, mamluks) during the early Crusades?

There's a Fatimid cavalryman with a kite-shield shown at link (and see link )

Apparently the Fatimids and Moors used them because of the influence of the Eastern Romans and Spanish Christian forces respectively.
