Covid 19 is here in its misery and most miniature gaming opportunities have evaporated under it enveloping cloud.

I'm striking back, in a very, very small way, to try ease the tension with a minor diversion. I can play solo games to take my mind of it for a brief while. Solo play isn't something most players do. Partly, I'm sure, it's because most solo games hold little tension or surprises. I know of one set of rules that dispel that idea. They are called Piquet.

I've just started a series of reports on my solo refight of the Battle of Soor 1745 with specific, and constant reference, to how Piquet rules govern games and why Piquet is the best set of solo rules ever written (IMHO).

And, there's a lots of pics too, if solo still isn't your bag.

I agree, Piquet and Field of Battle are great for solo play.

I need to look into these rules for solo as that seems to be my only option at this point. Are they readily available on this side of the pond, (Florida)

von Schwartz,

All Piquet products are available, both hard copy and PDF versions. The list of PDFs can be found at piquetwargames.blogspot.com , and the hard copy product at piquetwargames.com .

An interesting post and nice to see how others modify Piquet – I do regularly read and enjoy your blog but: No Google Account, no comment.

Do you have a single reference sheet for your house rules? Those would be great to see as a stand-alone document.

Fascinating. You seem to have found "the rules for the time of Covid".
